New California Traffic Fines!!!!!!!
Heads up guys...........
Someone just sent me this bad news...... Gerry THE LOS ANGELES TIMES HAS AN ARTICLE ON: HUGE California Traffic Tickets Fines Effective 01/06/2011 Please be extremely careful in your driving and car registration & insurance matters. State of California is broke and they are trying hard to squeeze all of us hard to collect money. Effective immediately, if you do not stop at the red light, be ready to pay $436 in fines or if you pass a school bus with flashing red signals, you will be charged $616. The state of California is going for blood, so be extra careful in driving, You cannot afford messing with them. I have been hearing that Highway Patrols are under pressure to issue a lot more tickets than last year with at least 30% increase in fines over 2009, so beware of radar guns, highway and traffic cameras installed everywhere and the tougher enforcement of parking rules. Just for your info, the next time you park in the handicapped zone, even for a minute, you will be looking at almost $ 1000 in parking tickets , so it'd better be worth it. California needs money, so pay close attention to the rules of the road! Traffic Ticket Fines (Effective 01/06/2011) VC 12814.6 $214 Failure to obey license provisions. VC 14600(A) $214 Failure to notify DMV of address change within 10 days Note: The fine may be reduced with valid proof of correction. VC 27400 $178 Headsets or Earplugs covering both ears. VC 27803 $178 Violation of motorcycle safety helmet requirements. VC 34506 $616 Commercial Driver - Log book violation. VC 4000 $256 No evidence of current registration. Note: The fine may be reduced with valid proof of correction. VC 4159 $178 Notify DMV of change of address within 10 days. Wow...I'm glad I don't live in CA and probably will never visit it either in the future unless Wayne invites me to drive his 962 on a track!

The town we live in is very small, with many narrow streets, and many "blind" intersections.
But, almost anytime, you can see the fools driving down the street while on their cell phones. What is sad, is that a visor remote can be bought for $50. Our PD tells us, "we write them all". Gerry

And my last speeding ticket here in Austria was about 50 euros. I paid that thing with a smile on my face considering that the one before that was near Yuma, Arizona and cost me about 320.

I love CA, but the Nazi fines and emissions laws and stupid high cost of living is really starting to piss me off. I'm going to move to AZ where I could get a five bedroom home for what I'm paying for my townhouse and drive my car without worrying about my hood getting popped.

So now you have to stop at red lights and stop signs. Was that not the case before? I would rather they police that than the canyons. Red light violations are more serious/deadly, IMO.

Red light cameras too.... and they cut down the length of time the lights stay yellow - 1 second, so they can catch more people..... Gotta love the PRC

This probably explains why I saw no less than three police cars within two miles of each other with people pulled over on my way up to San Francisco the other day. I've never seen such a heavy CHP presence on the Bay Area freeways before.

I believe those are just the "fines", I've heard they can double those $ with court and processing fees and such.

Oh yeah, a client told me no more Navigation Systems on the Wind Shield's Center, it must be on the lower corner driver side. I think this was imposed last year, never heard of anyone getting a ticket though. Idiots, with the power cord draping over the legs, how safe is that???

And those are just the straight fines. All counties add on top of those fines their own fees. Which means, those fines can be 170% more. Fight every ticket, clog the system so that they have to stop writing tickets due to lack of prosecution.

For those of you in the bay area be extra carefull on Highway 17 Los Gatos to Santa Cruz. I recently got a ticket on a late Sunday early Monday morning +- 1:00 AM coming home from playing ice hockey. It was for 67 in a 50 mph zone, I've driven that section of road enough to know better, but was'nt paying attention. CHP asked me to slow down to "make it safer for the rest of us" actually there were no other cars on the road at the time. He also noted that they had secured some federal funding to patrol that section late at night. Sounds like a pretty lucrative gig, as pretty much everyone is speeding at that hour. Oh yeah ticket was about $400

Oh BTW, I just had my CHP ticket dismissed and cleared from my record using the Ticket Clinic.
I was skeptical being a law student, but they did it, and cost only $200, no bail, no nada. My speeding ticket was $425. I think I made money here, didn't I?
