I must be getting old too. I bought his and hers matching  boogie boards and got out yesterday with the GF. Had a lovely time. No wind, sun beating down - it's summer here, and a nice small tidy swell coming in. There was even a couple of titty girls on the beach.

Hey Guys!
Been a long time member here on Pelican but never ventured into the Off-Topic section. Very surprised to see an almost 100 page surfing thread on the first page! I am heading to Kauai for the rest of the winter this Wednesday to surf. I would love some tips if anyone has any. Staying in Princeville. Mahalo! |
HI Bravoaloha, long time Kauai surfer here, now living in Florida.
My family is still in Haena. Thats my home zone. I'd be glad to answer any questions that I can. What kind of surfing are you looking to do? Lots of choices on the north shore. Feel free to PM me your Ph #. And we can chat. Cheers Richard |
Just had an awesome call with Richard. Thanks to him and the awesome community we have here at Pelican!!

The best I can tell, this is a wave caused by the train running through a flooded area. If any of you know different, please say so.
Very cool regardless. https://imgur.com/gallery/ySvjOCK |
That looks like the new wave pool that Slater is involved in.
http://www.kswaveco.com/ Pretty amazing skimboard dry launch. Cheers Richard |

Since its emergence into the public consciousness, Namibia’s Skeleton Bay Has been churning out a steady stream of highlights, captured from every perspective imaginable. This year, Koa Smith, the man behind the internet-melting POV of the wave back in 2014, returned looking to outdo himself and came up trumps with this unbelievable 8 barrel wave. My legs were burning just watching that  Thanks for that Baz.
Life is not fair. When I was young and healthy enough to ride a wave like that (and survive the food, water, and parasites of western Africa), I did not have the money to travel. No that I have the time and money to travel, I'm too old to do it  |

As hard as it is for me to really come to grips that I'll be 66 years old this year - I'm satisfied that no matter what the future may hold for me surfing-wise - I have had some special times in the water - not necessarily at the best surf break in the world - or riding the best waves - in the best conditions - but in my mind - it was plenty good enough to put a big smile on my face and more than what was needed to feed my soul. There is still much out in front of us......gotta just keep chargin'......SmileWavy |
