I had a friend in college whose name was David Donat. He swore up and down that he will name his son Duncan, and his daughter Elizabeth Clair. (Duncan Donat and E. Clair Donat)

A friend's wife named their daughter Beatrice Ophillia Magnolia. Not one mispelled name...but I thought it was damned cruel of mommy to saddle a girl with that.

I had a customer with that name once, though it was spelled with a Q, not an X. Pronouced "[tongue-click] ko-bee-lay". Seriously.

My father had a client once named Brickford Wall. No *****.

I worked with an engineer with the name "Lake Trout".

When will "probably" be replaced with the uneducated version "prolly"?

Many years ago I had a female student from an asian country named Sue. I asked her one time if that was her real name, and she said it was an American name she chose to go by. So I asked her what her real name was. She said "Yuksuk" was her asian name and said, "Now you know why I go by Sue."

I'm calling BS.. In true ebonics she would have said "the dash don't be silent"
