Phonetically Henri is On-ree, really there's a very slight h sound hOn-ree, but the "huh" is barely audible.

André is On-dray. My nephew is André and his grandma (other side) hates it and always calls him Andrew, drives him total batpoop.
His brother is Christoper Robin which was cute at 5 years old, but as an adult he calls himself Rob. I still call him by his full name just to piss him off, because I can.

My brothers had something about French names (early seventies) and the other brother called his girls Michelle and Danielle. Danielle is cool with it, but Michelle absolutely hates her name and goes by Shelly.

Being a long time baseball fan I'm always laughing at the different ways guys can spell 'Sean'. They usually make it as long a spelling as they can as if they get paid by the letter....e.g. "Shawyn' or some such. Guess they don't realize it's an Irish name or all the Black dudes wouldn't use it.

Years ago, I heard a Scott Joplin opera in ragtime by the name of "Treemonisha". The female lead's first name was "Treemonisha" and that was from the late 1800's , so the "crazy" names went back that far, and probably farther...

My future dog's name will be: Phydeux. (Fido)

Fido would be Phydeaux, not Phydeux.

Over here, La-a and other names like that would not be allowed by the civil servant that officially registers new born babies. And rightly so.
These days, young parents like to be different and give their chileren ridiculous names. I don't know what's up with that. We should feel sorry for them.

In my decades of teaching, I had many of the "non-standard" names. I had a child named Krylon Centurion, a Quasar, and there was one that a memo was sent out about how to properly pronounce. The child's name was to be pronounced Sha-thee-uh, it was spelled s*h*i*t*h*e*a*d' with an aspostrophe or (") accent mark afterwards. The mother informed the school that the D was supposed to be silent. (I think that keeping the D silent was the least of that kid's problems).

When that girl goes to fill out any form and fills in that for first name the application will be rejected. How we she ever get an ID or credit card?

A boy named Sue has it way easy compaired to that name.

One of my former co-workers swears he was family friends with a lady named Rhoda. She ended up getting married to a man with the last name Rooter. He says that Rhoda started using her middle name when they got engaged.

We also ran across a gal working at a local store with a name pronounces "Sha-kee-ster", It was spelled "Shakeystair"...A recently-posted pic on www.asseeninshreveport.com had a fellow who had a name tag that said "Cray'on". (if you click on the link and scroll down on the 1st page, you'll see him. His hair resembles the company logo on his work apron).

My daughter had a kid in her elementary school named Dextron. Maybe his mom saw a can of Ford transmission fluid during birth and thought it was a cool name. I know of a woman working for NYC DEP named Kunte. Yes, it's an ethnic Indian name. It is pronounced Kun tee. I'm sure she's taken a lot of guff over the years.
