7/4/12 might be the coldest on record, have to check

Long Beach Airport recorded a high of 69 today. Closer to the beach it never broke 66. Going down to 61 tonight. It's chilly and I love it. Wind is zero.

Sorry for the rest of the country. But I see the triple digit weather has subsided.

Huh. It was nice in San Luis Obispo. Even with the marine layer until about 1:30 it was never chilly. After the marine layer cleared it was a nice sunny day, warm but not hot. Sounds like we have the best weather of the whole country.

West and PNW have been spared the record breaking hot weather in the rest of the country (soon to be the typical hot weather). May be to do with La Nina.

Morning started off cold and overcast, but by around noontime the sun burned off the marine layer (at least in Glendale and the SFV, where I spent the day), and it was perfect swimming pool weather. What a beautiful day. I'm roasting marshmallows over a wood fire right now.

Currently 59* had a high of around 85
Some severe thunder storms late afternoon. Downed trees, hail and scattered power outages.

Spend a day at a friends in Pasadena, playing with the kids in the pool, around 80 degrees. After dinner, drove to our little spot to watch fireworks. We had to put our jackets on. It must have been 65.

Yes, also it seems this La Nina period coincides with a portion of the PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation).

Anyway - I am very happy with it!

The 'wet coast' lived up to its reputation here to the point June is now known locally as "Junuary". Very cool & damp so far.

Cheers

Yeah, it was cool here, too. Only hit a little over 100, and if I kept the now A/C deleted Targa going more than 50mph, I hardly noticed the sweat.

In the east, records are being made for high temps.

A day or so ago, "Hot 'Lanta" really was - with temps over 100.

It is still hotter in Philly & NYC than in FL.

This weekend and early next week we will have a "cold" snap. The temp is not supposed to break 90 for 4 days! in July! In Houston!!!

We have had no rain in the Indy area since May 1st, 1/2 inch. Sure wish we would have some. Lots of hot 100 temp days since then and never a cooldown in sight.
