It may seem like they're making money, but when the stores have to close because they can't restock inventory, that sucks up those profits pretty fast. They're already having layoffs around here because there's nothing to sell.

My 9mm and .22 arrived this past week. 223 still backordered.

My AR15-22 arrives Monday, so next weekend should be fun!

There is always the fear that instead of gun restrictions, ammo restrictions are going to be legislated. This could increase long term ammo price and reduce availability very significantly. This is the main reason people are stocking up whenever new gun laws may be looming.

I think you can't go wrong buying bulk ammo. It does not lose its value and in gun circles is traded like currency for purchases and trades. Personally I don't shoot enough to warrant large amounts of stock - except for shotgun shells which even have been hard to come by locally recently!

The liar, CT. Sen. and ex-Attorney Gen. Richard Blumenthal wants background checks on those who purchase ammo. He also wants to ban certain types of ammo.

I was in Bass Pro Shops in KC today. Probably half of the longgun racks were bare. Zero 9mm or .223, very little .40, and the bigger stuff was picked over. Crazy.

I went to Wal-Mart in Scottsdale an hour ago. I asked if they had any .223 and the guy burst out laughing.

Don & gint, I'll PM you the site. My dad browsed around for about an hour and found it. They had *decent* prices for the common stuff. For 7.62x39, .556 and .223 they had OK prices. A shotgun, HI-Point carbine and VEPR sound like real good additions right now.

Although, I will stick to my favorite hole-in-the-wall local place who has a good amount of 9mm +P+ at $15/box.

It's ok. I don't need any 223 for my new AR15...

I found some S&B 9mm in stock online last night with $5 shipping. It is listed as limited supply.

IMO, unless you just HAVE to buy right now....just wait a few months (and no, it's not gonna disappear forever). I haven't looked on the shelves recently, but I don't think the shortage is nearly as bad as it was 4 years ago. Back then, I had just purchased a new .357 lever (dang you Pelican spooners), so of course, the shelves were empty of every caliber I own. I did find a couple of boxes (of cheap crap) in rural "deer country" for obscene prices (which I paid at the time). That was only 'cause I had a new rifle (and didn't want to use my stash of "good stuff" to play with). Wait it out imo...or "buy high, shoot low"

I agree with KC. And when the prices do go back down, stock up so you always have a baseline supply. Having a few thousand rounds on hand can get you through these times of shortages. As you buy, rotate the old for new.

Absolutely. I'm sitting on the .223 that I have right now since it seems to be hardest to find. I'm hoping to find a few boxes of cheap 9 mm locally for range plinking purposes to keep me occupied. Eventually the political BS will pass and supply will catch back up with demand.

Yep, buy between the "crises" so there's enough on hand. Helps to avoid all the drama.
