Now that I see that car spinning around and in motion, holy christ is it hideous. Not really a good angle available.

It's still the same old has been design/silhouette.
The engine in the rear would have to make these designers to redo proportions.
It's so boring now.

Forget about the vette-it's dead .
Start off with the 88 Fiero and drown it it cash from there.

I would argue that it's the exact opposite, because you could make the same complaint about the 911. The Corvette is an icon, they've been making them since 1953! But what is a Corvette? And why do you have to reinvent it? With such a legendary name I would greatly prefer evolution, particularly in the styling department. Keep the tie to the past while still looking forward. I thought they did it well with the C4, C5, and C6, each was easily identified as an evolution of the prior model. They they dusted off the legendary Stingray name, but didn't really bring in any Stingray styling elements. WTF?

BTW, a Corvette is front engined and rear wheel drive. It has been since 1953. Deviating from that basic formula will signify that they have finally jumped the shark.

I haven't read the entire thread, so these three things may have already been said...

1. They moved the needle too far... too far over into "it looks too much like several other exotics now with all those clichéd design elements" territory.

2. There is absolutely no good reason to do away with the round tail lights that have been part of the 'Vette's signature look thus far.

3. The only way it could be made more of a piece of stink is to give it "Bangle Butt."

Yes.
And every time I see the 911 it's all the same.
I have been with this feeling since the LATE 80'S.

Boring.

The same silhouette/design since Hitlers Dogs puppy died.

Although, the powerhouse is in the rear.

The 911 should have evolved into the R8.

That new Corvette is going to be about as popular and long-lived as the Mazda RX-8.

Hey! I still maintain that the RX8 is a really good car. It's the closest thing to my 986 that I've driven in terms of scalpel like responsiveness. Plus you can legitimately carry four real adults in it.

Matt, from the first time I saw the RX-8, I couldn't believe how fugly Mazda made the RX-7 successor. I just couldn't get past the looks.

While I did like mine, I can't argue that the 3rd gen car was beautiful. You could make a pretty good case that it was the best looking car of the 1990s.

I have no doubt that it's a good car, (or that the new 'vette is), it's just a matter of styling taking a "WTF" turn for fans of the car.
