I'd like to get together with about half of the devisive sob's and buy them the refreshments of their choice, or several bowls of whatever, till everyone is feeling no pain whatsoever. See how the sheot flies and have 2 sets of boxing gloves and a ring. Anyone not totally crystal clear on what a tool they might be gets called in to the ring for a beat down then more refreshments and more possible beat downs. Why?

On several occasions I've had certain aggressive fools threaten to whip my azz. In 58 years that has never happened. Not to say it couldn't. I can run fast when necessary. I was the middle brother of two hot headed brothers growing up in Texas oil towns early 60's, we fought for fun. Golden Gloves, the youngsters here don't have a clue about. It was so big they played matches live on the local radio stations 2 times a week. I kind of loved to scrap at the drop of a hat. How I never lost a tooth was a miracle. Broken nose 3 times split lips, ripped ears, carry on. All good fun

I come here to check the pulse of the world. I realize most coasties think anyone from Texas voted for Bush, has a pickup, wears cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, loves to hunt, and has a stockpile of ammo and a safe full of guns but it might just not be true.

Went for a ride in the 930 an hr ago. It had been sitting on a lift in the garage so long the battery needed a boost. Most people in the world think Porsche guys are snobs. Pretty much everyone here knows that is total bs. And there are motorcycle guys here, guitar players, high end stereo, all the cool toy stuff most people may not give a flying eff about. So now that I've revealed my inner gheeeey nttatwt bs I'll slink away.

I work in a factory so trying to have a give and take discussion about hot topics on the 15 minute breaks we get is a bit difficult.......let's just say it's not the "brain trust" that is present here. At work, I get bawdy humor and everyday/local sports discussions, while here it is much more of a worldly crowd, so I guess I get my intelectual stimulus from these forums.

I also get info on upcoming PCA events and 944 mecahnical threads that help me out occasionally.

The third post of this thread nicely illustrates the point:

What I get here is entertainment, Humor, Lots of useful, as well as useless information, very wide ranging views and opinions.

Plus fun camaraderie in a community I'm proud to be a part of.

This is the only online forum I'm involved in. It came along just as some major changes were happening in my life. Injury and general wear and tear on the body have brought a stop to a life time of surfing and windsurfing dedication, along with most of the personal connections those brought.

PP OT has filled in some of that interaction for me. Unfortunately not the physical activity, training part. Crawling around and under the cars is just not the same.

I've enjoyed meeting some great pelicans, and with my vacation rental condo coming on line soon. Hope to be the "go to place" for pelicans coming to Kauai. Looking forward to meeting and sharing some back road cruising with some of you while visiting here.

So I want to thank all here for welcoming me and putting up with my weak writing skills. Thank god for spell check:-)

Aloha Richard

I've met a pretty good number of you fellas at the track, on the phone and at your homes.
I've ridden in your race cars, street cars, eaten your food, drank your coffee and set your tile!

I enjoy the contributions. I like hearing what people think about all types of subjects.

There have been fellow Pelicans on all ten of my LeMons teams.

I check in everyday!

Richard, someday I hope to take you up on that. Anywhere in HI will be in the cards for a family vacation in the next few years. While your rental is reasonably priced, sadly airfare for a family of 5 is not.

Hey Matt, I hear you about airfares. They do come down at times. Got to keep an eye on prices to find some deals. Costs do add up traveling with a family. Staying in a condo with a nice kitchen can help by keeping you out of the restaurants.

I do hope it can work out for your family to come over some time, My boys age 11 and 15 love to have new buds to hang with.

Keep us posted, were pulling for ya.

Cheers Richard

Firstly, quite a few great friends. Secondly, an interest and knowledge in things that I never knew existed. These discussions always amaze me.

I find PPOT wonderfully entertaining. I like the folks here. The wealth of information in the brain trust is exceptional - better than Google.

To answer my own question again I am amazed at the depth of knowledge that there is available here. If I could just help others especially those buying their say first P car and giving purchase advice then that makes me happy. Of course in my early days there was no internet and I did not ask for advice so I ended up with some crappy cars.

I am amazed at the quality work many of you do on your cars. And you take the time to take pics.

I love the PPOT. Any question posed can be answered. Want the news fast? Get it HERE first - especially earthquakes, etc. The PPOT provides me with a broad section of opinion, in one very localized place. The cross section of social, wealth, education, ethnicity, and faith is broader on this BBS than any other I've ever seen. Who would have thought such an array of people would be loosely linked simply by a common interest in a particular make of car.

Best of all, you guys are REAL tolerant of red-headed car-diggin' chicks!
