Helium. Its the method advocated by the right to suicide folks. Pump it into a bag over your head, no feeling of suffocation, just go lights out.

I'm thinking that a rented Ferrari driven fast down the Pacific Coast Highway and oops, missed a turn only to launch it airborn into the surf below.

I would never take my own life, but I have a "do not resuscitate" clause in my living will so I don't have to endure years of agony from one heroic act.

I've been to several suicides in my time. The simplest was a guy tied a rope to a joist in the basement, sat down on a chair and tied the other end around his neck and leaned forward. He could have stopped anytime by sitting up. The worst was a husband and wife were fighting. He went out to the garage and fired up his radial arm saw. Layed his head down and pulled the arm on the saw forward. He sure showed her. Another one where they were fighting, she took off in the car and came home several hrs later. She pushed the button on the remote for the garage door and there was hubby, waiting for her, swinging from the rafters.

Me, I'm not going to end up like my dad (a vegtable in a nurseing home). A bottle of Cazadores to wash down the T-3's and the Black car (does about 170 mph).

Well, being single and having no kids, I don't have them to worry about, there would be much less for me to leave.

As others have pointed out, some choose that option for many reasons, some clear, some not.

Could be because of health reasons, a woman, depression, the list goes on.

I figure if I was going to off myself, I would take my 69 track car(it is the least usable of my cars) make sure the tank is full, only use my lap belt, pull the padding off the cage and take it up to full speed, up the tallest, local bridge (Dames Point Bridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) it has a lot of running room to get speed, and not much traffic, then right off the top. Between the cage, lexan & fiberglass, pretty much no way to survive, and at the right time of night, no one would be there, and the river is deep there (shipping channel) A hell of a lot better way than my brother did last summer.

I'd go to an NRA gathering and mention loudly to them that the US military is essentially a welfare system. I'm sure I'd survive a matter of seconds

Mind you Westboro Baptist are still alive, which honestly boggles my mind.

How much red wine can I drink per day so I can pass away peacefully at age 80 (and die in my sleep just like my grandfather?).

"I don't want to suffer a long, painful death, I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather - doing 80 mph down I-5." Bada bump.

I'd like to bring about my demise in a manner that would cause my family to squirm. Like a massive coronary while in bed with an NFL cheerleader. What? It could happen.

Yeah, but if you change your mind and start screaming for help, you'll die anyway as everyone will be too busy laughing at your high pitched voice to offer any assistance..

Don, I know you think I've got thin skin, but this sounds pretty serious. I'm very sorry for your condition. I'm a trained EMT, I've seen death and it's not pretty in most cases. I'm talking about violent death. Gun shot, hanging, car wrecks, etc. Both my parents died of Alzheimer's as well as grandparents and aunts and uncles. Not a way I would choose to go. But because of living wills there is only so much a person can do. My mother in law suffered with Alzheimer's and died last year. If and when the time comes, place yourself in hospice care, tell them you are in pain. They will prescribe morphine for the pain via oral dosage. If you can't do it yourself, you need someone in your corner who can. I think you can put the rest together for yourself. It's like going to sleep. It suppresses the respiratory system, the circulatory system, very peaceful. No muss no fuss. I can't really say I believe in miracles, but in your case, I hope so.

Forgive me, but tell me what 'condition' I'm in?
.
Thanks for participating in the thread but I don't think you've read what I've written.
Presently, I'm doing quite well.

Well, you seemed to be asking how to do oneself in. Pain, suffering etc. I read the 4 pages several times. People spoke of putting pets down, suffering a painful death, etc. You asked the question, "What method to do yourself in?" I don't know you, don't know what you, or what your going through, if anything. You threw the question out there. Sounded to me like you had something in mind. I take things at face value. At least I didn't tell you, " My guitar wants to kill your mama." When I just wanted information about buying a guitar. God forbid I can't quote Frank Zappa, although I know he has a kid named Moon Unit. I don't feel so bad. If you're not sick, glad to hear it. I believe I said I hoped the best for you if you're in a bad way. You were asking for knowledge about dying. I think I gave it to you. Your buddy told me to cut my pills in half...Don't take any. If this is just a sick joke, well I guess it's just that. Like I said, the Internet is like TV it's a vast waste land, I guess I crossed the tape again. Won't make that mistake again. At least not in a thread with you or what's his name is in. I like the tech forum, think I'll stay there...At least no one wants to kill my mama's Porsche...What ever....

Reminds me of a joke:

Three older men in a nursing home are describing the ideal way to die. The first, age 70, says, "A bright red Ferrari, 150MPH drive it right into a wall - Bam! Over in a flash."

The second, age 75, says, "I will steal an airplane, put it into a steep dive, 600MPH right into the ground - Wham! Over in a flash."

The third, age 80, says, "Youngsters. I intend to be shot by a jealous husband."

In all sincerity, I'll take myself out before a long-slow demise that robs me of my dignity. My wife feels the same way. We will take better care of our dog in a few weeks than we could for my Mother in Law. It's absurd.

My friends father was struggling with life's heavy weight and the perceived realization that there was not much to life. One evening he walked out of the front door and put the muzzle of his .38 in his mouth...after all these years my friend is still freaked out over holding his father and having his brains spill out on his arms.

Using a gun is a messy process for the ones who find you...I will take pills.

iplagolf, this is the type of feedback/comments I was looking for when I posed the Q.
The subject comes up frequently in the crowd I run with lately...that's all.
I have always had an immature view of death - namely, I really never embraced the ideal for myself until I had a quad by-pass, diagnosed w/diabetes, HBP, gout attacks, & a recent thyroidectomy. Now it seems to surface frequently. Just thought I'd ask around.
.
Get it? Stick around, your material ain't half bad.

A couple of decades ago, I watched two different episodes of assisted suicide on TV. One was produced in Europe & the other was Jack K. (I believe). I would utilize either one if available to me - both were via chemicals/pills.
I would much rather go the way my 3 dogs have gone, however...1 shot to turn me into a drooling wet noodle, the 2nd to stop my heart.

One ounce bottle of Cyanoacrylate .
Up both the nostrils.
The rest in the deep mouth into the esophagus and coating the inside of the lips.
Prior to all this of course you get your ex. to TIE up both hands behind your back.
