Fleeing the scene is inconsistent with the incident being merely an "accident".
Hit and run doesn't do much for one's credibility - in addition to being a crime in itself. |

It's the cyclist's fault... Didn't you read the thread?? They chased him with a camera and MADE him run.

Flipper brings up a very interesting point: where is the video footage?
About half of the riders I pass every day have some kind of GoPro or lipstick camera mounted on their helmets, handlebars, frames, etc. I assume they're using them to document points of interest on their rides, or perhaps they're part of some training system....... I really have no idea. But I do know that the cameras are so small and cheap these days that there's very little financial or aerodynamic cost to strapping one (or in some cases 3-4) on yourself or your bike. Perhaps a more knowledgeable cyclist could chime in and shed some light on this. This begs the question: With that many team riders and support vehicle(s), wasn't there at least ONE camera in the group? A cursory search of "Tyler Wren" produces plenty of video footage, most of it shot from a support vehicle and at least one showing one of their "Group Rides", complete with riders taking up a whole lane of traffic. Team Jamis Talks Group Ride I am not a cyclist and I don't pretend to understand the nuances of these training sessions, but I find it odd that in this day and age, where every Tom, Dick and Harry has a camera strapped to them, that not one of these riders, coaches or support vehicles had a camera rolling.

So, yeah, it's entirely likely he would have stopped if he thought he made a mistake and accidently hit a cyclist. The fact that he did not stop lends credence to the notion that they attacked him.

Video cam use is still not that widespread, from what I see.
Pro racers usually don't wear cameras. Weight and aero. The team car was waiting ahead, not following the riders. |

This must be sort of like when the cops "lose" dash cam footage. It's a pretty sure bet at least a few of these guys were recording, if not Herriott and Wren themselves. It was a training ride, not a race. These guys are nothing if not vain.

I also wondered about the lack of video with a pro team. I also wonder why leaving the scene is such a strong indicator of guilt? It is so easy to make up narratives. (I had a driver hit my parked car once that testified that "it came out if nowhere" even though it's engine had bern off for about 15 min and no one was in the driver's seat). The driver of this auto could have well not even realized the the cyclists fell over (assuming that there was some small contact). He may well just thought that some cyclist had cleated his car for blowing his horn and that they lost control based on their own poor or aggressive riding..and that they were in the wrong, but didn't want to stop and be assaulted by 15 roid raging cyclists.
If a fellow really intended to flee the scene of a terrible accident, don't you really think he would have gone fast enough that the little bike to car relay photo expedition would not have caught up with him? Last edited by fintstone; 03-07-2013 at 10:50 AM.. |

I just watched the team video linked above. In most of it they can be seen taking the whole lane, right over to the yellow centerline, even when only two abreast. There are several scenes where they are three and four abreast, on open public roads.

Yes...I looked up some of these when the thread first started. It made me wonder. It also made me think that they would be handy in the hands of a good defense attorney.

Damn it, fint, there you go again. Analyzing the situation and doing a bit of research. Don't you know by now that is simply not allowed in these parts? You are supposed to just read Wren's faithful and unbiased account, then join in on the chorus of "burn himmmm!!!!".
