Yeah... I've never set foot on his property, except once when I first moved here and he invited me to his hangar. 3 years ago.
By contrast, he has sent out letters to the community calling me a liar, claiming my dog is dangerous and threatening to shoot it, claiming that I somehow prevent him from attending HOA meetings, and claiming it is somehow my fault that he does not pay his HOA dues. I now have a German Shepherd who cannot be left alone outside without fearing the nutsack neighbor will kill her, and a wife who is afraid to walk around the community property without packing heat. Over the past year, three families have moved out of the neighborhood and have cited him as the primary reason for leaving. When the neighborhood guys get together each week to mow the runway, over half of them are packing. And many of them are running go-pro cameras on their mowers to document the nutsack's insanity.

Unfortunately this is what happens when you are dealing with a person that doesn't give a squat about following rules, but knows the people he is screwing with do follow the rules.

He is probably the second most frequent flier out here.
I've been telling my wife we need a ZSU from the surplus market, but she says this is just and excuse for me to buy another "man toy". Kurt - you are right. Everyone here is afraid that confronting him will mean going to jail or losing your job. Me included.

My wife spoke to one of the property owners a couple weeks ago. Apparently he had come in to the store where she works, and they were chatting about the neighborhood. She told me, "I mentioned to him that I had not seen him around in a while."
The guy owns a hangar here, with living quarters inside, but he does not live here. This was just his place to keep a plane, and the apartment was to make it qualify as a "residential property". Anyhow, he told my wife that he was not coming back. Ever. Because of the jackass neighbor and the BS trouble that he keeps stirring up here. He said the hangar can sit there until it rusts to the ground, or until he dies, whichever happens first. Now, I know the guy has enough money that he can walk away from this investment and never shed a tear over it. But I find it disappointing none the less.

I guess a community lynching is not an option.
If you all take part, who could they convict? All in jest well, sort of. You need to figure out what it takes to get someone commited.

Nobody has heard a peep out of him since the signs went up.
Neither he nor his wife showed up at the annual HOA meeting on Saturday. It's like I mentioned in a different post.... He occasionally goes crazy and causes a big scene, then reverts back to 'normal' for several months. I guess we are in the 'normal' phase right now.

Part of the challenge is that we may be forced to cope with someone when their behavior is driven by cycles of chemical/physical/emotional issues, that have nothing to do with logic (or may even sabotage their ability to reason as we would think a normal person would).
This is not to say I feel sorry for the guy. It simply suggests that normal, logical tactics may not work. This is not to say he's crazy, but clearly, he is interpreting things differently than "normal" people would. (Some people who are aggressive are actually fearful and tend to interpret a broad range of situations as threatening. Much like some people who feel the need to constantly carry a concealed weapon.) So....what would encourage someone like that to want to live elsewhere? (As in Red October, how can you make an entire crew want to get off a submarine?)

I guess I spoke too soon; Apparently he's feeling neglected again.
He called the county on me for letting my grass get too tall. One of my properties I had let grow for hay and seed, which is allowed by the county ordinances - but that did not deter him. I got the notice and had a choice of either cutting it or going to court to explain that it was for agricultural use. It was time to harvest it anyway, so I cut it all down. No loss to me. The flip side of that coin is this, though.... I contacted the county attorney's office and threatened to sue for "malicious enforcement"**. The county codes officer was forced to come out and issue violation notices against about 7 or 8 other properties, including the crazy neighbor. And I made sure that everyone in the community knows who instigated this bull****. ** my term - not meant to be interpreted as a legal term. Call it inequitable enforcement, selective enforcement, discriminatory enforcement - whatever. In general terms, the county code enforcement officer cannot come into a neighborhood and cite a single homeowner if other homeowners are also in violation of the same regulations. The enforcement officer must cite every violator, or none.

Completely off topic but... does an RV-7 generate enough heat signature for a reliable AIM-9 target lock? Just curious. If a high performance single engine aircraft were to stray too close to military airspace it could be perceived as hostile...
