Woo Hoo I got a job offer!

Heard back from Boeing today... They offered me an hourly position worth enough for me to relocate. Have to move south because it is at the Renton plant, but I can't pass this offer up!

Ren-ton. Cuz no-one's buyin.

Get to the know the Melrose Grill (STEAKS), Omar's off Sunset(Lebanese) and Dino's pub and you may survive Ren-ton...

Stay out of the politik there, be happy.

From the The Vern to Ren-ton it's basically 2 counties and an hour or so drive assuming you move at 2AM when the 405 isn't too messed up.

money is the whore that will stretch and blow your butt out..............sorry, I did my 20 years there, and I couldn't take it anymore.

Boeing, to be honest, will bend you over and no lube is provided.

life is short, much more important than a paycheck.

your mileage may vary.

I lived in that town for 30 some-odd years. Believe me, you want to leave when you are able.

Boeing is what you make of it.
It's clean & dry......but it is work which can be a PITA after a time.

I did 22 years there, retiring at 66 yrs old.... coulda done it standing on my head.
Some folks whine about the place....but that is, in my experience, what they do best.

Keep your eyes open, nose clean, ignore the BS, & look around for a couple years to figure out what ya want to do.....then go for it. If nothing else you will develop a finely tuned BS meter.

I can't speak for the atmosphere there on the floor firsthand, but I have a lot of friends there. I did do time in Boeing- but in AZ.

Just stay out of things- nasty old man drama in the plant everywhere you go. If you let everyone get in your head it'll suck. I assume you made hard-badge-

go to school on their dime if you have the time for it - they pay for higher education. Greatest deal they got for hard badges.

Oh and congrats BTW. It's a foot in the door for a good future if you are inclined.

I'm not planning on moving all the way down to Renton. We shall see how it shakes out on that front. I have heard good and bad about working for Boeing, but in all reality I am a work to live kind of guy. It can't be much worse than some situations I have been in. It took about two months from initial application to offer. From what I was told in the interview, most of the workers in this skill (robotics and CNC machine repair) are within five years of retirement so the future outlook seems to be pretty positive.

Congrats. Hope it works out for you.
Good to hear someone getting a job, instead of losing one, like a lot of people I know.
