WTF.

Pretty sure I would've been tazed/shot for "resisting", had I been in that fellow's unfortunate shoes.

Mooon Rivver!

This simply can't be right:

What Happened

While there, Eckert was subjected to repeated and humiliating forced medical procedures. A review of Eckert's medical records, which he released to KOB, and details in the lawsuit show the following happened:

1. Eckert's abdominal area was x-rayed; no narcotics were found.

2. Doctors then performed an exam of Eckert's anus with their fingers; no narcotics were found.

3. Doctors performed a second exam of Eckert's anus with their fingers; no narcotics were found.

4. Doctors penetrated Eckert's anus to insert an enema. Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers. Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool. No narcotics were found.

5. Doctors penetrated Eckert's anus to insert an enema a second time. Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers. Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool. No narcotics were found.

6. Doctors penetrated Eckert's anus to insert an enema a third time. Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers. Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool. No narcotics were found.

7. Doctors then x-rayed Eckert again; no narcotics were found.

8. Doctors prepared Eckert for surgery, sedated him, and then performed a colonoscopy where a scope with a camera was inserted into Eckert's anus, rectum, colon, and large intestines. No narcotics were found.

no matter the background this is terrible, the police must have felt something was wrong to redo so many procedures. I assume that xray in the video isn't his because one pelvic area looks offset to the other!
He must have been restrained as well I assume if he didn't consent.
Wrong on so many levels!

Police have conducted an internal review and found no wrongdoing by officers.

Just posting this in case any of you want to quote it in a year or so.

I'm just glad to see there's actually some limit of Govt intrusion (pun intended) that people will not support.

Although give it 10 years.

This is of course a career ending event for ANYONE else unless you are a a member of the teflon suit gang who can obviously run around in your State/county gang and play police state all day long.

Just another example of the erosion of our rights put into action.

I hope this guy sticks a pack of lawyers up the @$$es of all parties involved and turns them up to eleven.

You are correct. I misspoke. It was $2.7 million in punitive damages over and above the $200,000 in compensatory damages.

It begs the question...

Why aren't law enforcement officials bonded and insured independently? The taxpayers need to be indemnified from this ridiculous behavior. If officers shared financial risk through insurance you can bet the Police Officers Association would do a better job of weeding out cops who have issues.

Sure, big payout for this guy both from the police and the hospital. Then, the cops and Drs involved should go through the same procedure. You know, they had to get tased to be able to carry a taser.

Insane, x-ray, 2 manual exams, 3 enemas, another x-ray and a colonoscopy

A 12-gauge enema sounds about right for all perpetrators involved.

I couldn't agree more although they are already "bonded" by the same laws the citizens are subject to but they rarely have to answer to them when they break them. In other words without a system of checks and balances laws are useless if the judicial branch can do whatever it wants to. Citizens watch groups are good in concept but in practice don't have much influence.

My belief is that this has severely lowered the public's trust and opinion of what "law" enforcement is. Its a broken system from top to bottom that needs a major overhaul.
If and or when a period of civil unrest occurs it will quite simply be "us" against "them" in the truest form regardless of whether you are law abiding or not.

Couldn't they just have asked him to do some jumping jacks?

"He appeared to be clinching his buttocks..."

More of our "finest" doing what they do best. "Protect and serve" my ass. Oh wait... Someone else's ass in this case.

What happens when he next person has a serious complication from surgery or some medical procedure demanded by some overzealous, "hoo-rah" cop and a kangaroo court judge who just rubber stamps LE's warrant requests? Then what? More "blue wall of silence"? Probably, sorry to say. Then the cops will all then giggle about it in their barracks while the innocent dead person's family is left to grieve - just as happens every day I'm sure when people "accidentally" get popped.

This kind of stuff is SO not funny and underscores just how far we've gotten from asserting the rights given to us by the Founding Fathers. The cops should never have let this "search" get as far as it did - warrant or no warrant. Whatever happened to a duty to disregard an unlawful order? Whomever the person is (officer or judge) that kept demanding procedure after procedure when it was clear that there was nothing to be found should absolutely be in prison and barred from ever holding any position of public trust or authority again, including forfeiture of any pension. No question.

They should have just gone "old school" and just planted a bag of weed.

The article states "Law enforcement thought that was probable cause to suspect that Eckert was hiding narcotics in his anal cavity"

So first off they do an x-ray and find nothing. Is there any possible way to hide drugs AND some sort of container inside a rectum and have it NOT show up on the X-ray?

The guy went to Wal Mart not a border crossing. Who hides drugs up their ass to go to Wal Mart?

OK, the Wal Mart shoppers can be rather strange but come on, Wal Mart is not a border crossing like coming back from Mexico. Did the cop figure he crammed the drugs up his ass after he was pulled over for rolling a stop sign. I really don't want to know but what is the fastest it is possible to drop your pants and underwear insert drug container and pull you pants back up while sitting behind the wheel of a car?

The entire case is unreasonable.

If you read the lawsuit, it appears it all started because the cop felt Eckert was being rude. I hope he sues the cop's ass off!
