Yes. You'll get plenty of exercise, even though it does the cutting. The forward speed of mine kept me on my toes.

Picked this up about an hour ago over in Mom's neighborhood.

Looks like some kind of crib. It's on casters though so I dunno.

The other item is like a big cushion. If nothing else I can lay on it while working on things.....

You've got yourself a baby crib there, Baz. The unpainted frame lays horizontal 2/3 the way down in the expanded green frame and then the cushion goes on top of that.

Looking forward to the gender-reveal!

Ha - look forward to that as well, Herr Oberst! ;)

The casters threw me off....but I guess having casters on a crib can be useful.

I may see if I can donate it to someone now that I know what it is. I don't know that a mother would want something like this "second-hand" due to germs concerns but will look into it. I'll run it by our local Habitat for Humanity thrift store. They would know.

oldE 08-31-2023 01:52 PM

The fact that it folds up means it is likely intended to be used as a "travel crib". Just one more it of stuff parents seem to have to lug around with baby these days.
Who am I kidding? When our kids were small every trip looked like a major expedition. That was four decades ago.

Find a good home for it. Someone will need it.

Best
Les

OK thanks, Les!

More free stuff today. At one of my accounts the owner had a new deck built and I brought home the stuff that were throwing away. It's plastic lumber and I know I can make something with it around here.

Then some stuff curbside on the way....couple games, umbrellas, folding card table, picture frames, odds and ends I can use. That little palm tree cluster may end up on my Silverado dash if I can figure a way to attach it that doesn't ruin the dash. The little white thing is a miniature leaning tower of Pisa. :)

I am SO over my pack rat phase. A few years ago I realized I had reached "critical mass" in that I couldn't find space to do things I wanted to do. I thought about adding on to my garage, but had to recognize I did not want to build another structure. I needed to simplify my life.
I must say however over the years I have built a bike based upon a frame picked up at the local dump. I built a lawn mower with parts from two. One had scored cylinder walls, the other a bent crank. The price was right though. $0.00.
I suppose the Golf Cabriolet I fixed up and sold last spring might have qualified. I got it for 3500 and sold it for 7500 after putting about a thousand into it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1694115338.jpg

Yeah Iv aquired one too many tractors and it wont fit in the sheds. I have 4 snowblowers to sell before the winter so I guess thatll free up some space. I really dont want to build any more shed extensions for this junk. I get rid of almost as much as i bring home but sometimes almost is not enough.

Last weekend I bought a (non-working) Predator 5500W generator for $100. Bit of a crap shoot, there's a 50% chance that the rotor or stator have failed, and that's not a viable repair.

I fixed it in 15 minutes (brushes were stuck). Bring on the winter power failures.

Free bike! The frame is a maybe a bit small, but I carefully adjusted the saddle and with a new longer stem, with a taller shim stack, it is actually pretty comfy. Ive ridden about 45 or 50 miles on it so far, and so far I like it. The real test will be a long 5 or 6 hour ride, but so far, not bad for the price of a few maintenance parts like a chain and some brake pads.

Is the taller shim stack used to raise the height of the handlebars?
I have an old Diamond Back Ascent with a head stock like that but never used the bike enough to warrant getting it to fit me. It is too small. I do use the wheels off it on my TREK though.

herr_oberst 09-08-2023 02:14 PM

Yes, exactly. Adjustment shims come in 1/2-size thickness', and you can mix and match to find your ideal. You can also flip the stem for added adjustment (stems are typically 5º acute, but there are more options available, even adjustable stems.)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1694211117.jpg

Uhh, ok. That's like a 3k bike. Not worried that its stolen?
I did just score a set of Winspace wheels for $70 bucks, ($800 retail a year ago) because the rear hubs had non structural cracks, but the seller worked as a designer in a particle physics lab and didn't trust them. They're fine.

My friend just got a new Stigmata. This is his old bike, and he felt sorry for me because my current gravel bike is a turd. He told me I could have it until I get my new Stigmata-equivalent.

Good score on the wheels. Keep your eye on the cracks.

Steve's in the blue jersey, I've got red. Couple of old guys doin' the best we can.

We went to a car show sunday and a guy waved me down and wanted to give me a free windshield for my Forward control Jeep! He received the wrong one when he ordered one for an ambassador. I dont know when he got it but i imagine it was atleast a few years before he found someone with an Fc. It was out back of his field in a decrepid crate. He had a ton of cars but didnt really show me around. Thats ok Im happy with what I got :) Probably wont put it in until mine breaks or something. Mine is good just super foggy around the bottom which doesnt bother me. I believe they are $500. now if you can find one usually theyre on back order. I gave they guy some cake and cookies. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1695247885.JPG
