That's a hell of a score! When my dad was young, he'd buy cars with mechanical issues, fix them and then either flip or drive them. He mostly stopped after I was born, but there was one, I think his last that I remember. It was an old Nova. He bought the car, then bought a rear end from a junk yard and swapped the rear. That was the extent of the issue. He kept that one for a bit. He later discovered when he went to buy a starter or something that the car had a special, low production, high perf big block. He bought a starter for a big block, but it didn't match. Turned out that it was something special (maybe like a COPO option) that required a special starter (among other things). |

I know that where my mom lives (a little south of Baz), most folks have storm shutters. https://doordoctorusa.com/wp-content...-571x300-1.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/LugAA...kNH/s-l400.jpg https://amp.insurancejournal.com/app...er-580x386.jpg https://palmbeachaluminum.com/wp-con...h-shutters.jpg |
Is there anything more sad than a car enthusiast's estate sale?
I think the guy was a PCA member at one time, but most of the stuff that was selling was either tools or for an Audi TT. The TT went for $10,000, if it sold. They got good money for the truck and open aluminum trailer. Lots of Schwaben tools, didn't sell for a lot but more than I was willing to pay. I bought a set of Ronal 18x9 wheels. They're 5x100, they don't fit anything I own, going to hopefully flip them. I also bought more lug nuts than I'll ever use, I only wanted a set but they were in a box with other stuff. There were people bidding on used Hoosiers, they were at least 10 years old. I wouldn't trust them. Funny there were no large tool boxes, torque wrenches, or air compressor or air tools in the auction. I wonder where that stuff went. |

We've known each other since the 70's from the beach/surf scene. Her folks had a beach house here. Anyway, I kept in touch with her through the years and we ended up dating for a few years. Her Dad was a high school football coach in Miami, where she's from. I had dinner with them once, along with Angelo Dundee and his wife, longtime friends of the family. She was a fun girl to hang out with but eventually we went our separate ways.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1628989050.jpg |

Arizona Chairs
Neighbors were throwing these out. Quick work with a screwdriver to tighten them up and considering what color to paint them.

Don't forget the bottle openers on the arms. |
Back in the age of golden oak, I bought a Mobel bedroom set. I got a queen sized bed. Well, when the wife moved in we got a king sized frame, and two twin xl mattresses, a firmer one for me and a softer one for her. I moved the queen bed to a room in the basement, and I've been looking for matching furniture. Tonight I found a dresser. Same brand, it's identical to the one in our bedroom except ours has one more pair of drawers, so it's a little taller. The guy had a pair of nightstands too, but they're really beat up, so I passed on them. The dresser is solid wood, heavy.
Not free, but less than $100. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1629768368.jpg |

This last weekend was yard sale day in our community.
About 60 yard sales in all. Mostly junk but some treasures. I picked up a small Canon superzoom camera with 3 batteries and a charger for $10. 20mp and image stabilization. Works great. I also bought this trailer for $100. Not street legal, but I can use it to haul to the dump as long as I avoid the main highway. It might be the only trailer in Kern County with Okinawa plates. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1630370526.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1630370526.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1630370526.jpg |

Looks like it's got a place to mount your 50cal too if you want. :D |
Moved 96 yr old father in law into Independent Living Faility two weeks ago who has never thrown anything away. Cleaning out his house to prepare it for sale has been a nightmare - been at it for three weeks with daily trips to the dump. He had a vintage circa 1950'a LAU box fan that works well but was a rusty mess. Did a tear down and repaint. Found a couple on eBay - asking price $250!
