So, What Guns To Keep...If Only A Couple/Few?

Something tells me that this has been discussed before - haven't all gun topics been discussed here?
.
Thinking about which 2 or 3 to keep forever...tough one for me.
.
S/A 1911 A-1 Range Officer - for punching big holes in cretins.
.
AMT .22 Mag - for a survival gun (?) (less wt. for tons of ammo)
.
S&W M638 (shrouded) - carry
.

I would make it a 10/22, a 12 gauge pump, a wheel gun and a 1911. Probably need an AR too. Anything else is icing on the cake.

Yeah, need a long gun for the apocalypse scenarios. I think a 12 ga and a rifle. Seems ideally the rifle should be suitable for hunting.

If I could only have 3:
7.62x51 - preferably an FN/FAL
12g shotgun - probably a Mossberg 500 series.
a .357 revolver with either a 4 or 6 inch barrel.

And a truckload of ammo for each, please.

12 Ga. pump with the plug out and 1 round in the chamber right next to the front door. Make sure your wife also knows how to use it. Just make sure she doesn't know how your life insurance policy is worth. Kind of a safety feature!

Hey, if the night stand works for you great but, I would be cautious of having a pillow cover over it as it could get in your way. I keep one by the front door and .45 Para Ordinance under my pillow. No I am not paranoid, and not a prepper but, one never knows nowdays. I live in area of homes from 2500 sq ft to 8k sq ft and on acreage from 1 1/2 to 24 with private roads but, one just never knows.

Around here the 7.62x63 is easier to find and less expensive than 7.62x51.

Not sure if I told this before...
.
I bought a few guns from a friend (FFL) way back when...a Viet Nam combat vet and a Sheriff deputy for years.
He suggested I buy a 12 ga. shotgun for home defense.
'Told me of a night when he heard a noise down in his big kitchen. The only thing he had in his upstairs bedroom was his .45.
Guests were sleeping downstairs...and that's where his shotgun was.
He slowly and quietly crept down the stairs...telling me, "I was so scared and shaking that I didn't think that I could hit anything with that .45."
.
Well, before he closed and locked the back (kitchen) door, his neighbor's German Shephard came in and my friend didn't even notice the dog
in his big (dimly lit) kitchen.
The noise he heard was the dog dumping the trash can in the kitchen.
.
That's when he told me to buy a shotgun. "..better chance of hitting something even if you're scared ch!tless".

Don't worry. If you like your guns, you can keep them.

Oh, the pillow case is just draped over the gun as a dust cover.
I've had a few times when I grabbed it...hearing noises, etc.
I live on an acre, corner lot, with 7' block walls all around.
But, as you say, 'one just never knows'.
