"What Guns To Keep...If Only A Couple/Few?"

krikey, why not ask "What children to keep...if only a couple/few"

I have a lot of guns.
But if needed I could trim them down to any number, but would need to know what the number is.

'Told me of a night when he heard a noise down in his big kitchen. The only thing he had in his upstairs bedroom was his .45.
Guests were sleeping downstairs...and that's where his shotgun was.
He slowly and quietly crept down the stairs...telling me, "I was so scared and shaking that I didn't think that I could hit anything with that .45."

Well, before he closed and locked the back (kitchen) door, his neighbor's German Shephard came in and my friend didn't even notice the dog

The noise he heard was the dog dumping the trash can in the kitchen.

That's when he told me to buy a shotgun. "..better chance of hitting something even if you're scared ch!tless".
I would suggest watching this video

That would be it right there. I think I would have to add an AK 47 to that list as they are the cockroach of the gun world. Plenty out there and ammo forever.

Marlin 39A Mountie, .22 LR. Fun factor, plus small game and vermin practicality, cheap to feed, easy to have lots of ammo.

Peacemaker, 5 1/2", .45 Colt. Adequate for hunting, self defense, survival. Most importantly, the gun I'm most comfortable and familiar with. Reliable and fool proof. Unequaled satisfaction and pride of ownership. Prettiest damn guns ever made.

Model 70, .375 H&H, Leupold 1.5-4X, back up irons. Hunt anything, anywhere, any time. Beat the hell out of someone even if it's empty. Reliable as a stone axe. Another very old, very familiar friend that I'm more comfortable with than any other rifle. We've spent a lot of quality time together.

That right there is why my 94 will never leave my collection. It's reliable, accurate and pulling that stock into my should with my fingers through the lever just feels right.

Folks lose sight of how important that is. Absolutely invaluable.

When I snap a Peacemaker up with the hammer down so it blocks the view through the trough in the topstrap, I can thumb that hammer back and the sights are on target. Without even looking, they just lined up. Same with that old Model 70 - it almost aims itself and, at ranges and under time constraints where it has to, it does so well enough to work. I can operate either effectively enough (including loading and unloading) blindfolded, in the dark, one handed, hanging upside down from the mast on the heaving deck of a sailing ship rounding the horn in a hurricane. Drunk and naked to boot. That's important to me...

most of my life, every time somebody owed me a hundred bucks they'd offer up a rusty barn gun as payment. so i turned forty with a ton of crap in my safe.
vowed to trim it down. this is what remains.

all purpose hunting/zombie weapon

M1A with Zeiss scope

shotgun

remington wingmaster

personal bear panic sidearm

Freedom 83 in .454 casull

cool antique

Broomhandle Mauser

still need a decent all purpose .22 rifle. but otherwise i think i'm set.

There's a saying, "Fear the man who has but one gun and knows how to use it."

I'd rather have one spoon that I know real well. Hard to have a single spoon that meets all the needs listed here, but a spoon I can't use effectively is as good as throwing a rock.

My 0.42

That said, an HK P30 for home defense in a suburban environment seems about right...

Oh and I forgot, a FAL. It is an evil black rifle in 7.62 NATO...

And that's all I need.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray... And this paddle game. - The ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need... And this remote control. - The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all I need... And these matches. - The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control, and the paddle ball... And this lamp. - The ashtray, this paddle game, and the remote control, and the lamp, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The paddle game and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches for sure. Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Isn't x63 an old S American military caliber and x62 is '06 ?

40 mm AA Gun, THE BOFORS CANON - YouTube

1911 I know it inside and out, It works for me

Remington 870 Do you need a defense shotgun? a duck shotgun or a deer gun yes! It's all the same change the barrel.

M1a 7.62x51 goodness, self loading rifle with stand off distance. It's turned cover into concealment in plenty of occasions

and a 22 long rifle to gather small game when you don't want people 1 mile away to find you.
