You should look into TMZ's accuracy before making fun of them. I'd put their credibility up against any of the major news outlets any day.
That's more a sad reflection of cable news than a positive reflection of a tabloid that makes its money reporting on the sex lives of celebrities.

I have no doubt that Porsche issued guidance on who and how the Carrera GT was test driven. But that poorly written memo doesn't strike me as a corporate document.

Hamilton Carrera GT Crash

Anthony Hamilton, father of legendary F1-driver Lewis Hamilton, crashed a Porsche Carrera GT he borrowed in the United Kingdom yesterday. Right after leaving home with his wife Linda the car spun 180 degrees and bashed backwards through a fence and a hedge before getting to a stop in a childrens playground. No one was hurt in the crash but the car is close to totalled.

Hamilton is in good company with the list of crashed Carrera GT’s growing bigger and bigger. It proves once again that the Porsche Carrera GT is a really tricky car that even makes experienced struggle not to crash it.

Car Crash: Porsche Carrera GT

And another one bites the dust! Today this Porsche Carrera GT spun and crashed into the barrier of the A20 motorway near Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The driver, Don Perridon, made the headlines last year for having his fathers Bugatti Veyron impounded by the Dutch police for driving 160km/h where only 80km/h was allowed. Dutch police didn’t keep the Bugatti Veyron for long as we saw it in action again a few months later at the Supercar Drive 2010.

According to the owner the damages to the Carrera GT are not that bad, although he reckons it will set him back about € 10,000.

Update: Our friends at Autoblog.nl received some close-up pictures of the crashed Porsche Carrera GT. The damage is more than we anticipated on forehand. Check out the pictures here!

I suspect that you could find similar articles on most supercars. If I could have just one supercar it would be a C-GT, one of the last true driver's cars without a massive layer of electronic nannies and a simply intoxicating exhaust note.

Porsche Carrera GT Crash posted on: Jul 24, 2008 on category: Carrera GT
Prince Marcus Eberhard Edward of Anhalt, Duke of Saxony and Westphalia, Count of Askania, well known for his jetsetting and international tabledance club chain “Pure Platinum” as well as extensive supercar collection has taken the displeasure of severely cracking his orange Gemballa Porsche Carrera GT at the famous Paul Ricard racing circuit in France.

Gemballa is famous for building highly modified Porsches, many of which are based on the discontinued Carrera GT supercar. The tuner company has even introduced a number of variations on the theme, with prices starting at about €225,000 ($348,000) – on top of the price of your own Carrera GT. That’s what makes the crash of a bright orange example by Germany’s Prince Marcus so remarkable.

Next time you ask yourself, who has the money or inclination to buy a Porsche Carrera GT worth €500,000 in addition to Gemballa’s €225,000 tuning package, think of this guy!

Havent posted here for a while but it's nice to see Porsche adhering to the same design/handling traditions.

I figured the same thing until I started looking deeper. There are a sheet pot full of CGT wrecks out there and almost all of them are single vehicle incidents.
Waaaaaay too many based on the population.
Compare that to enzo's, I've only found a handful of enzo crashes.
Even fewer lambo crashes.
How many McClaren F1's have we seen crashed?

Sure looks to me like the CGT was destined to crash out.
No sir, I would not want one.
If given one I'd drive it once (carefully) and then put it up for sale, no test drives available.

I am light years away for being able to afford anything near a C-GT...

But if I hit the Lotto don't think I would be shopping for one...

There has to be dozens of visceral fun to drive super cars without the infamous handling characteristics of the C-GT IMHO.

The car has very high limits. You can drive one all day, even at a pretty good clip, without getting into any trouble, if you don't drive like a dick. I've seen a lot of GTs driven poorly and the owner is usually fooling around or showing off.

You can buy a sport bike with a much greater performance potential and you don't see those on the news when some guy bites it. Not as big a deal to the masses...

They made 64 McLaren F1's.... Bean already balled his up twice....

The F1 cost around 1.2 million each..

Operator error can be quite expensive

Coming on 8 years since you registered, you need to learn how to read a vBulletin forum thread properly. I was making a joke about the OP because of this article that was linked in the other Paul Walker CGT thread:

Porsche Carrera GT: 5 reasons the car Paul Walker died in is different - CNN.com

Note the source.

I assumed you were taking a friendly jab as well, which is why I replied the way I did.

Had I been replying to you, I would have quoted your "looks like an inter-dealership fax". It just so happened that my post came in right below yours and I'm assuming you thought it was in response to what you had written. In the future, when there is a reply with nothing quoted, it is typically in response to the OP.

That CNN article is not bad-can't say that I find much in it that I disagree with.

we could go around and around about this but for the sake of everyone here, let's let it drop.
