The Galaxy S5 beats all of the specs of the One Plus One.

And it is IP67.
Space for MicroSDXC card (128GB)
Swappable batteries
USB 3.0

But...it costs more. The fully unlocked one is $560 on Amazon.

You can download a de-bloated ROM here:

Mind if I load my band's demo onto your phone? Hey, at least I'm asking your permission first. If you don't want me to, why? If I did it without your permission would you whine?

Funny, I didn't get the U2 album on *any* of my devices or computers. Maybe Apple doesn't love me...

I would be so fascinating to know how many people are getting rid of the album. How much back lash is really coming up because of this? It would be interesting to sit in on an the next planing meeting to see what they decide to do in the future about just giving away an album.

We will never know but I suspect in the future Apple will ask each person before they put an album on their device.

That's because you are a cautious user and don't let iCloud stuff in automatically, unlike the whiners who actually don't understand their settings. Or the celebrities letting their phones copy their nudie pics to the cloud. Really celebrities (and other people), you thought that was a good idea? yeah, grab my personal stuff and put it on an apple server somewhere. What's wrong with personal backups ;-)

Anyway, the U2 album is "purchased" for you, that is all. In your case (and mine) you have to go grab it in the cloud (Itunes preferences, "store", "show itunes in the cloud stuff", then it'll appear download it, and then undo that preference). Only folks who have iCloud ON both ways had their devices populated, because in essence they chose to. May not have thought of it, but they let that door wide open. It's a great warning, folks, in essence it's 2 gifts: a crappy album AND a lesson in how to protect your ass !!

I can sort of see the privacy issue on the face of it, but really, it's a gift and knowing how your gear is setup would prevent any of this. That is kinda like complaining about strangers contacting your kids on Facebook when you friended people you didn't know, tagged your children, and never looked at Facebook's privacy settings or failed to set them up at all - actually it's unfair to apple, FB privacy settings change 10x more often than apples's ;-)

I went around to co-workers' desks today and checked out some phones. I got to fondle the Galaxy S3, S4 and S5. I think the S3 is the perfect size and am leaning heavily toward it. Now I need to research versions of it and also how I'm gonna transfer my iTunes library over or go with something like Google Play.

Consider the S5 Mini - It is the S5 with a smaller screen.

As far as the music library, use a program to convert your iTunes library to MP3. Connect a Micro-SD card to your computer. Make a music folder and copy the files. Insert the Micro-SD into your phone. The music application on the Galaxy will find all of the music files.

"Play Store" is only the applications store, not a program replacing iTunes. You can either use the app on the phone or you can go to the web-site. If you use the web-site, once you've selected your applications, you designate which device(s) will get the app. You can connect ALL of your devices to the "Play Store", with the same account. And buying an app means it can go on any device attached to the account.

Interesting interview by Charlie Rose of Apple's Tim Cook. Among the topics is Apple's views on customer data and the use of it.

Cook points out that for Google, you are their product; Google doesn't make money off Android, Chrome, Gmail, Maps or its other products, instead they make money by collecting data on each of us individually and collectively, and selling that data or advertising services based on that data.

He says that Apple makes money by selling products to you, not by selling you to others. He also makes some flat statements about what customer data Apple does and doesn't use.

Exactly...

Best customer service but I guess they learn their lesson not to give free gift...

In the "land of the free", apparently free gift are not welcome. I may have miss it but there must be a class action suit somewhere that some wacko judge will entertained like the 2x4 one in California.

This thread made me go look, since I had no clue they were pushing an album. I see it is there, but I would need to download it from the cloud. Which I just will not do.

What makes people call this U2 spam a free gift? I don't get it. If anyone forced something onto your computer or into your garage that took up enough space to be noticeable, you'd scream "invasion of privacy!" But because it's Apple and U2 I'm a fuddy duddy for not thanking them. World gone mad.

Some people....

Look, Apple decided to pay U2 a bunch of money so they (Apple) could give everyone on iTunes a gift of U2's latest album. The way this was done was to make it appear to Apple's systems that everyone had purchased the album.

Now, since you had "Automatic Downloads" enabled for Music in the settings for the "iTunes & App Store" apps, it was automatically downloaded to your device.

So, Apple did not intend to spam you with this "gift". What they did was not think how to give the gift through as well as they should have. What they should have done is give everyone a download code to redeem the album if they wanted it.

Yes, they screwed up a bit. But it is not something to get all riled up about like you have. You are being ridiculous.

Happens all the time. Every computer I have purchased lately come with 'trials' of antivirus, Word Starter, games, utilities... all bloatware crap that I have to delete.

Best Buy once suggested a 'tune-up' for a new PC (for $49) by removing the crap....

My Laptop (a few years old, windows 7) just started offering a 'Word Starter' update every time it boots. Started after a windows 'update'
