Hey Hads, here is the website. I don't know if anyone sales them retail. The safes are a quality product. I like the idea of having the spoon handy yet locked up. I used allen head bolts to attach to the bed frame as I don't think to many bad guys carry allen head wrenches with them!
The buttons on top are for the combination. Hit the buttons for your combo, turn the knob and the lid springs open. As you can see the spoon is in a holster attached to the lid. There is room in the bottom where I keep another loaded mag.

I'm a bit disturbed by the number of y'all that stow your weapon with a clear chamber. Racking a slide is well within the gray area between gross and fine motor skills. Fine motor skills are non-existent in combat......unless you're a COD super soldier in your mom's basement. When excrement hits the twirly magic thing on the ceiling, you forget stuff....when you forget major stuff, like racking the slide, you get killed.....don't get killed, chamber a round.

A big, big "+1". Under mortal threat, one should endeavor to have as few things to do, as few things to remember as possible. Sometimes I think those highlighting all of the safeguards they have in place care more about appearing "responsible" to the overly critical, politically correct set than they care about their actual ability to defend themselves. Myself, I would rather have the ability to save my life or the lives of my loved ones with a readily accessible firearm than appease the hand-wringing ninnies who would be appalled with how I choose to store that firearm.

Based on the last two posts, I am reconsidering the empty chamber approach. So loaded mag, one in the chamber, safety off, gun decocked (double action) makes sense. Then I don't have to slide the rack, nor do I have to futz with the safety. Just apply a bit more pressure on the trigger than I would with single action. Will also add more double action practice at the range.

Amen to that. I carry my P938 cocked and locked in a holster. I unlock my electronic safe at night before I go to bed. If something goes bump in the night, I'm grabbing my S&W 686+ revolver due to the sheer simplicity of it. I can imagine that a home invasion is a terrifying thing, the less that you are required to complete or remember, the better your chances of survival.

I've learned to sleep with a .45 (round chambered/safety off) in my left hand and a M629 in my right hand (for bear invasions) but it took decades of practice for me not to conk any bedmates during my sleep . Actually my handspoons are locked away (theft would really bother me...don't want 'em "on the street") and a lever action .357 is always handy. I've got a coyote that makes random appearances and that's when I switched over a few years ago. I'm a VERY light sleeper and wide awake if a frog farts...no way is someone going to pose a threat without me having time to react appropriately. Hope I never have to...

+1 Although most of my defense spoons are conventional DA/SA. I do keep them chambered but with the safety on. Been thinking about keeping my Sig239 in the 'box' as it has a decocker vs. safety. The only issue is it only holds 7 + 1 vs. the S&W 4006 is 11 + 1. But yes, even at the range playing, trying to flip the safety and getting a shot off can prove clumsy let alone in a life threatening situation.
