Ah, the ancient male ape dilemma. What does a female want?!?

From a biological perspective its all got to do with enhancing and promoting a healthy sexuality in order to maximize the chance of a viable offspring. Such a crude view is today frown upon although it arguably still have a profound, although perhaps unintended, bearing on behavior patterns with the two genders.

How is a happy, friendly, smiling face and a few nice words received? With a feeling of being attractive, admired and perhaps romantically looked upon of course. How is being neglected or frowned upon received? With a significantly less positive feeling.

These are very simple, yet deeply rooted behavior mechanisms with a reciprocal effect.

Herein lies the paradox and the dilemma for the male ape. How to show appreciation toward a female that obviously want to feel appreciated and many times even go to some length to enhance the parts she wants to be appreciated for - without risk of being accused of harassment.

Oh well.

Let her gain 50 LBS, then she'll be begging for attention.

Bottom line, she wanted attention. She got it.

I really think we need to see a picture of her topless to know if the attention is "harrassment" or just complimentary.

Just to be clear, I do not think that saying, "hello", to a stranger is harassment necessarily, but if someone says hello to every person who walks past in a crowded city would be considered autistic at the very least. None of the guys in this video are unnaturally friendly. They only get friendly when an unaccompanied young woman walks by. If she was with a strapping dude, suddenly they would all have perfect manners and mind their own fking business. It's a cowardly power play and that's why it irks me. They know damn well it's unwelcome, even these cretins can tell when a woman wants to interact with them.

And of course women like attention from men. Just not from random idiots they have to walk past on a city street. This ain't complicated.

Do you film the behavior in said bad neighborhoods and extrapolate it to apply to everyone of the same race or gender? Because that's what she did.

Even in my most drunken stupor I wouldn't catcall. Seriously, do these guys really think this will get them laid? Even a decent hooker will valudate the date...

Tell you what.

If women would stay off their damned cell phones while driving.....us men will stop saying hello when they walk by.

Deal?

If she was in downtown Manhattan or Toronto she would likely not be harassed. The areas she was walking through were probably not the best.
I picked out some neighborhoods since I'm actually familiar with NYC.... seems her walk was comprised of strolls on avenues in Brooklyn and Manhattan, did not recognize any scenes from Staten Island, Queens or The Bronx..

In what looks like a "blue collar" area of NYC.
Some of you show how little you know about NYC

She walked in some pretty exclusive areas... Soho.... home to some extremely pricey real estate...She walked in Nolita....she walked through Time Square in more than one scene...The real estate prices and money in some of those areas is astounding..Its crazy..

It looks like she started the walk in front of a Chilpotle across from what looks like the old Police Headquarters (which is now luxury condos) or it could have started across from the Mint....

The frames where you see Jimmy Jazz stores were shot probably on Flatbush Ave in Bed-Stuy... where if you bought a Brownstone in the late '80s for 70-100k you could now sell it for more than a million (or multi-million) , there was a second appearance of a Jimmy Jazz... in a sketchier area...Crown Heights maybe?...

She was also walking on 125th St in Harlem..

Harlem now has one of the hottest real estate markets in NYC... money is pouring in....granted it still has some sketchy areas...

She walked by a Heartland Brewery.... 3 locations in NYC....none in blue collar areas...

Interesting exercise...

Damn you pigs for looking at my boobs that are so prominently displayed in front of you! Just another moderately attractive woman seeking attention. Nothing to see here, move along.....

The reason that so many guys acted like that...is because it has worked for them in the past...with women dressed and walking like that (maybe not quite as pretty). People usually don't use bait when they are not fishing. If it works once for most guys, they will try again until the day they die.

Conversely, I was in a meeting on Thursday with a woman who lowered her voice and told me..."you really look handsome today" then paused a second and said; "you don't mind that I said that, do you?" I said: "not really, I am flattered", I was not the least bit interested in the woman...and I suspect she was not interested in me, but it didn't bother me in the least. I have had it happen quite often when in a nice suit or a tux. It is much better than the alternative. Sure beats pity.

Thank you all for your input. I find that the Swedish perspective is very similar to the American.

I live in the south.
If you make eye contact with someone, you say "Hey".
To not do so would be considered rude, or you would be labeled as a yankee.
Here, her harassment is considered manners, and rightly so.

And you seriously don't see any difference between small town/southern/whatever friendliness and leering at or bothering a young woman minding her own business with her head down walking? No difference between saying hello to strangers who meet your glance as you pass them and cat-calling women in NYC??

Why did I think you were smarter than this?

No, because it would be pretty boring due to the fact that no one says boo to me when I walk through a "bad" neighborhood.

I am seriously disturbed by some of your attitudes and comments... "she was asking for it" T-shirt and jeans=dressing like a hooker, you might want to check out your daughter when she is stepping out to high school, she is probably dressed a lot more provocatively.

And yes she is drawing attention and collecting money... for a charity to bring awareness to harassment... you boyz pretty much took the bait hook, line, and sinker.
