Yes, where I grew up, everyone she passed would have said hello, how are you, etc. I know I would have. Probably no catcalls or whistles (that she could hear) unless they knew her. As far as guys approaching her and trying to start a conversation...I am not surprised. I would have as a young man...and she woud have been gong out with me that night. The guys who tried to start a conversation on the video just were not her type. If one had been a young Richard Gere, George Clooney or Ashton Kutcher (whichever is her type), she would have melted all over him...if not stalked him herslf.

I suspect that in her 10 hours of walking...she passed the same guys more than once...which likely made them think she was trolling.

I will concede that from a science experiment standpoint, it was a total fail. As for her being interested in some hypothetical suitor on the sidewalk, one of the main differences I've noticed in life between men and women is that for women, the context of how they meet a guy is very important. The same woman who would not give you the time of day out on the street will be on you like a can of Sherwin Williams at a fancy wedding or a political fundraiser at some rich person's home.

We don't care if we meet them waiting for a porta potty. If they're hot, it's on like donkey kong. That's the difference between men and women and why harassing them on the street is bad form and usually not effective.

Those guys - every one of them - act like idiots. I find these women interesting. Now there is a statement in itself. However womens' eyes tell a lot about them whether they are looking for somebody or something or not just seeing anything. And sometimes they just look through you.

As an example about two times in the last 12 that I have gone to Costco I have noticed a single woman(by herself) and not the same woman trolling for attention. Dressed provocatively and not pushing a cart or carrying any groceries they seemed to be searching for attention. If they could catch your eye and fixate on you they would just look long enough to get your attention.

Hooking up with one of those in Costco would be the only time you are leaving with a single item except if you are buying a lawnmower. Of course down in the US Costco is allowed to sell booze and you could just get a cheap substitute - namely a bottle of Menage a Trois and drown your sorrows for the missed opportunity.

Right. So you're thinking that these guys say "hey" to every person who walks past them, be it man/woman/old/ugly/whatever and she was just rude not to acknowledge them. That they were not in fact harassing her.

Like I said, I wanted to think you were smarter than this. It's not a regional thing. People up here in Minnesota, (as far north as you can go in the USA), say hello to one another when glances meet. Same in Los Angeles, where I live. It's the same everywhere and harassing a woman who isn't with her dude is the same cowardly, rude and ill-bred schit everywhere.

Just scanned through this article.

As I understand it - the intent of the video was to demonstrate what women go through in society - how they are 'targeted' by the opposite sex - harassed - demeaned - all because of their gender.

But some on the left (as I understand it) have protested that the men depicted in the video - guilty of such unacceptable behavior - happen to be larger in % "of color". Thus some type of stereotype.

My daughter is much prettier, but she would not be walking the streets for 10 hours at a time...much less in form-fitting clothes two sizes too small. Women that dress more conservatively and carry themselves a bit better are less likely to get this type attention. Several of the guys clearly thought they had a shot with this woman. If it were just one, I would think it an anomaly. Most likely, these antics have been successful for them in the past (with a certain type woman).

She probably walked by the same guys a couple of times shaking her butt before the part on the video. Obviously if she walked around for 10 hours to get a few minutes on tape....and this was the worst, most men (the other hundreds, if not thousands of men) she passed treated her respectfully. In ten hours walking around a big city in clothes two sizes too small, you would probably troll up as many admirers as she did. If you walk around DC in a suit as I often do, you would certainly have a great number of weird people try to talk to you. Most want a handout. Some want to talk politics as they assume you are a lawyer or work for the administration. Big cities are magnets for the weird/insane.

On the bright side, guys with this little game will likely never reproduce.

well, a woman that wears skin-tight pants (or were they yoga pants) and a form fitting t-shirt out in blue collar public is either naive or trolling for cat-calls. if a gal (or guy for that matter) doesn't want attention, don't dress like you are ready and willing to take it off.

it's like the gal at work that constantly wore clothes that revealed cleavage to her belly button that was constantly complaining that guys didn't look at anything else. well, guess what? neither did the women. yep, the women looked at her cleavage, too. and yes, it was pretty amazing.

it is my opinion that wearing revealing clothing and acting offended when attention is given is reverse sexism.
