Maybe the lumberjack and homeowner should call their insurance companies and tell them about the situation. I'd think it would be in the best interest of all to work out a solution before it goes from WTF to OMG.

I've got this really big dead cedar cluster (4 trees, 18 inch diameter trunks) that is right next to the house, and between the electrical service entrance wire and that nice Macintosh apple tree that I planted. I figure to hook my Massey-Ferguson onto it and neatly pull it down right between the wire and the apple tree. I have to cut it first??

no need for all that work.......... 1/2 gallon of gasoline and a match ought to do the trick.

I believe that numerous 6 paks of beer are required as well.

Update!

Ok, the situation was resolved, with no loss of life or property damage. Not as exciting, but a better outcome for everyone.

He called his brother, who spent several years "working for CalFire" on a prison fire crew, so he actually has the requisite chainsaw skills. He showed up around 10pm last night and cut off most of the upper limbs with a hand saw until about midnight. This morning they spent some time clearing out stuff in the neighbor's yard - just in case - and then dropped the tree this afternoon. They removed part of the fence for better access, and then chained the jeep and the other brother's range rover together to get more pulling traction.

Now, the other interesting tidbit I found out: they had their power cut off a few days ago because he didn't pay the bill. Normally that's a "well, tough luck" but his 90+ YO mother lives with him (technically, he lives with her and has as long as I've known him). So that's gotta really suck for her. I don't know if there's an authority to which this situation should be reported.

Despite all of our voyeurism and poking fun at your neighbor's skilz this is great news. No one really wanted to see a "newsworthy" ending.

So what were you thinking about all day at work ?

Developing situation - I doubt this will end well...

Double boo!

This had such awesomeness potential too.

Oh well. With neighbors like these, the next round of entertainment can't be too far in the future. Keep us posted when the next shenanigans start!

I'm glad there was a happy ending to this, but what kind of son allows/expects his 90 YO mother to live in a house without electricity?
That's elder abuse in my book and should be reported to social services or the police.
