There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the tree.

Any update on TreeWatch 2014, Day 2?

Believe it or not, trees can get really really heavy. Yeah I know huh. And there's lots of gravity under trees.

I used to play golf with a guy who had a saying: "trees are 90% air".
He said it every time I hit my golf ball into a tree and ALWAYS hit a branch. Every time. 90% air my butt.

Eventually I told him that if he said that one more time he was gonna end up wearing my 9 iron.

I don't know if he still says it or not. We haven't played golf together since

this thread needs either some dramatic news music:

or pensive "awaiting the verdict" news music:

Agree with P-O-P that lack of a streaming webcam (or at least a camcorder) pointed in his direction is an internet party foul. You cannot post stuff like this and leave us all in suspense. It's like it someone posted about the supermodel bikini party they had in their backyard pool and didn't post pics for lack of model releases or some crap like that.

Widebody needs to go home for lunch, assess the situation, provide us updates, and, most importantly, set up a webcam.

Failure to comply can possibly result in a trip to Ban Island for Widebody...

Second movie script needs to be developed and submitted directly to the SciFy channel: "Sharkado vs. Treekado: Sharks Out on a Limb"

I can't imagine that tree surviving the approaching (already there?) storm.

you need a permit to do this sort of thing, up here.
now I know why.
If this happened next door to me, I would phone the worker's compensation board. They would shut that ****-show down, pronto.

I had an enormous ash tree in my back yard that died. Huge limbs were hanging over the house. I considered taking it out my self as I have a lot of experience cutting down large oak trees for fire wood on some wooded property in central Texas. However, I decided to call in the pros. Not a scratch on the house but the yard did receive a number of deep divots. Those guys were amazing to watch as they removed the limbs from the top and worked their way down. I had them leave the stump. That is a five gallon nursery pot on top with some bamboo planted in it.

Well, at least there is not a large Pacific storm moving in today... D'oh!

Unfortunately, WCB only covers employees and not asshats cutting down their own tree with no skill, tools, prior experience, or even a whiff of a plan.

I think the biggest difference between those with experience and those without is we know when it's time to call a climber or someone with a bucket truck, unlike they guy in the OP.
