We have those!! We aren't supposed to burn brush etc here, but you are allowed to have outdoor cooking fires or "Fires for ceremonial purposes." So every spring we have a Tree Fell Down Ceremony and burn the carcasses of the winter fall. It looks a lot like what you describe, Bill.

Unfortunately my stupid neighbor got wind of what we were doing and tried it himself. He burned half his woods down. He didn't even know it was on fire until the the FD showed up. How anyone can be idiot enough to set a pile of brush on fire and then go inside to watch TV the rest of the afternoon is beyond my comprehension.

As this thread demonstrates, there are alot of stupid people in this world, with most of them being drunk, which means when they get hit by a falling tree or run a stop sign, they aren't the ones who get hurt because they are so relaxed.

I remember reading that trees weigh about 550 kg per meter cubed or about 1200 lbs. per sq yard and the weight of the branches equals the trunk weight. So every 7'-9' there is a ton of weight. Gee I wonder why his jeep had no effect on the tree.
