Their Hydraulic Lifting Platform build is also worth a look.

Am I the only one that feels that the last thing they need is more side jobs?

Get the damn mini done. |
I think it's great and enjoy the extra content.

I've been trying to stick to one project at a time until it's 100% finished.... Seems like an almost impossible task. :(
A few weeks ago I got my wood working tools out to make a new small table for my bedroom... Then I started building new speakers for my surround system, then I started a new full width monitor stand for my study room. All three projects are about 40% complete now. |
I was hoping the addition to this thread was regarding new Binky material. I have watched both episodes of Escargot, but all they have been doing so far is disassembling a truck.
I too would rather see how they are going to fit the rest of the necessary crap under the hood of the Mini. But since it is their time, I will watch and wait. Best Les |

I'm starting to think it is all about marketing their YouTube channel and not the projects.
Money talks. |

Jeez, how many of us wish we were doing something interesting enough that people around the globe would follow on YouTube? |
25 is up

Worlds most elaborate windshield washer jug.:D:D
|
That thing has to be nose heavy with all them rads and stuff bolted up front
|
Here's your chance to a modern version of Project Binky.
Someone is giving away a free Mini Cooper shell. Free of charge! https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/zip/d/lake-oswego-scrap-mini-cooper/6967610292.html |
Episode 26 just dropped. Hurrah!

OK, between the release cable and the manifold, these guys are certifiable. Great, ingenious work
|
This is far and away my favorite youtube series. Just incredible work.
|
It seems like they are finally getting close. Three or four more episodes maybe? Including one for livery and graphics.
I would also want to see video of the car in action. |
Most of the manifold they made is about 3mm thick... How long will that last?
But I'm sure they'll work it out... Great series. (I still don't like those stepped drills) |

I have had a couple of different sized step bits like that for many years. They work great. As mentioned, best for sheet steel and best in a drill press. I didn't use them that often but enough and they still work. Gotta be careful trying to use one in a hand drill!
|
They have Episode 4 of Escargot up.
Best Les |
Just watched episode 27

Gotta set aside time to watch this tonight.
|
How many cutting wheels and miles of mig wire do you think they went through to build this car? Love watching them fabricate.
|
Ready for paint!
|
I think #28 will be taken up with plumbing the turbo and intercoolers. They have established the positions of the intercoolers, but have not established the pathways of the air in and out of the head. Gotta make some more brackets. Break out the CAD!

I'm looking forward to seeing the Mini painted.
Have they given any clues as to the colour? |
Well, I was certainly wrong about episode 28. I guess they'll sort out the intake plumbing in 29, or 30 or...
Merry Christmas, All Les |

I can't get my head around the fabrication skills
and then NOT taking out the sheet metal outside seams at the A and C pillar |

...might have to do with their being able to quickly/easily replace individual sections in the event of an 'incident'. Bill K |
None of those brackets or the things he bolted onto those brackets are easily replaceable .

Episode 29!!!
<iframe width="940" height="529" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UMZ8_pqJgek" frameborder="0" allow="encrypted-media;" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Yep, already watched it.
Nick picked a godawful color for the suspension bits. |

I have to question the green hardware plating....which makes me think Binky might be painted dark green?? |
