I don't know, I thought the grey was a good color. Being neutral and such. Good thing he didn't go for the candy apple pink. Also the grey color may be a hint to the body color?

I think looking at that green and grey mess under it, we should prepare ourselves for an equally bad choice of paint and interior colors. Just because the man has fab skills, don’t mean he has good taste! |
I wouldn't have made it glossy, but like Sid says, we probably ought to prepare for an underwhelming third act...

For some reason, Matt Farah rubs me the wrong way, and his friend building 500hp Super Coopers gives me the same vibe.
Jealousy, probably, but nonetheless, notafan. |
A agree. Matt is an arrogant arse and he's a blowhard!
I loath people like that. |

Never seen a single original thought emerge from his useless piehole |
They must have Binky up and running. I'll have to watch. Also if you can get over Matt being Matt...
https://youtu.be/Gp4jpZNj1Wk?t=50 I guess I like to think about things that are within the realm of reality. While nobody can argue with the craftsmanship of Binky and its creators, it's pure unobtanium. |
There's a new Binky episode up!
Spoiler Alert! (Kiss your turbo "Goodbye!") (And Hello again!) Best Les |
Note how the thrust bearings are on bearing number 3... Very cool ;)
|
Great episode. They totally fooled me about not running a turbo. Loved the tie-in with the Aussie dudes (Skid Factory). Nice to see a well documented engine build done to high standards.
|
The "additional" head gaskets was a give away ;)

Here's a link to 30 - so you don't have to waste time with that Matt project.:

Break out the show-spanners, it's time for another episode of Project Binky. In colour!

I love what these guys are doing and have watched a bunch of their videos because they are educational and entertaining, but I've lost a little interest. I find I now fastforward through some of the videos and I'm not watching every one. I'd ready for the darn thing to be running and moving under it's own power.

if you wanna see the next level nutty fabrication story...
That makes Binky look like amateur hour... (i exagerate a bit but still) Scrappy guy builds prototype Alaskan bush plane, by hand.. custom..mostly alu and carbon fiber.. no brackets, those would weigh to much.. he carbon fibers thinks instead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6lncBfGtu8 |
..remember when these guys just had an 4 1/2" angle grinder?
Then they added a bench vise, then came the mother of all tools, the drill press. |
Thanks for the recommendation - subscribed and added to my list. Here's a recommendation for others that might be interested... Sampson Boat Co. Guy is a shipwright restoring (rebuilding) a 1910 sailing yacht "Tally Ho".

Excellent update. There's few things mare satisfying than plugging in the engine sensors when everything's back together.
I had missed this shorter video so I thought I'd share it just in case others had missed it as well. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0C1z1MtHAU4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I saw that. Project binky is seemingly taken a back burner. Not much on the Escargot, either.
I fear that I have watched nearly 40 videos over the last few years, in vain. |

Me neither... |

That might excuse project Binky but what of the Escargot? Maybe their daytime jobs are affected by this virus crap and money’s a little tight. Or, maybe the blooms off the rose and these projects have turned into a pain in the ass slog. Who knows? |
Episode 33 coming this Friday. It looks GREEN!

Nine weeks of work and a hand rubbed finish!
I would not have the patience for that, but on the other hand, it was twelve months ago when they rolled the car off the set. Best Les |

I like the color.
I also thought it was rude for Richard to suggest all that work would be wrapped around a tree within two weeks of completing the car. |
Great update. IMO The best video of the series! - 40 minutes of heaven. :)
"Old English White" with trick paint effects... Very subtle and just lovely! (The final assembly should also be great but I've always been a "bodywork and paint" guy) Quote:

I'll be amazed if the car goes back together in one piece .
Think of all the miles of custom wiring, sensors, switches and brackets we've suffered through !! How many think that a one-off motor is going to start right up without a lot of fussing. And the there is the dialing-in phase !!! Aren't all of their bolt holes now coated inside with about 15 layers of zinc oxide, filler primer, skim coat, base primer, color coats, and clear coats where applicable ? I'm disappointed in the color choice - maybe it'll grow on me once, if and when, the car starts to come together. Looks not unlike the 'chalk' color the was so popular in 2018-2020. Especially with Porsche. https://www.rennbow.org/colorwiki/Chalk Oh, and what are the metal darts he put in the drip rails when they began ? Bill K |

Wow, that is beautiful work.
Would love to see it in person. I will be interested to see the precautions they take to protect the paint during final assembly. |
