Sorry about the setback, JP.

Hope this doesn't make you mad, I just thought a little levity might help about now?

JP that really sucks. I liked the direction you were going with your Mustang project, hopefully this is just a temporary setback.

Switched all my work/shop lights to LED. Work just as well and no heat.

I did get a chuckle out of this....It's my only claim to fame. I stole the pic.

Now I need a good body shop or painter in the Vancouver WA/Portland OR area.
Since half the car needs a repaint nohow, I might as well change it to a color I really like (tho the white was growing on me, old Wimbelton White would be beach to match)......I luv black early Mustange.
I know of one good shop just down the street but I dunno if they're up for this.

Any referals?

I would be interested in some mag base LEDs with a lot of lums.....at least close to that 150 watt halogen. Where to get em'?
The Halogens are bulky and seem to always be where you need to stick your head.
They get way hot too.

Serial, iffn re-sale value has anything to do with it go with the obvious:
1) shelby racing blue with white stripe
2) really get crazy and go for white with a shelby racing blue stripe.
3) totally sell-out and go with bullett green.

Whatever ya do, please don't douche-out and copy eleanor. I hate that stupid car and it's 250,000 clones.

Just a quick visual shows nothing but eff'ed up paint. The rear glass didn't crack, but I think the rear seal may be toast......I haven't cleaned it off yet....waiting on an insurance adjuster. Some tools laying on the towels added to the mess.....melted plastic that, had that dripped on the floor, would have lit off the cardboard/plastic bucket below......it really was a near thing....Murphy was kind to me.

So was Darwin. The door knob wasn't hot, so I didn't notice the smoke till I opened the door. The air in the shop wasn't hot but the smoke was blinding thick.....I stumbled across the shop (holding my breath) & opened the big door......a list of DON'Ts that I violated.

I'd rather be lucky than good.

I've never liked clones.....but I do like the Shelby quarter windows. The rear vision out of that fastback is gawd awfull. The blind spots are huge and the rear view mirrors are strictly decoration.
Install kits for quarter windows are available (not close to Porsche prices) but a PITA to install. They are on my bucket list.

I bought a couple of these LED work lights recently. Cheap and work well.

Glad it was not worse. Guy in our Porsche club burned down his garage and the rare and expensive Alfa inside it with a combination of oiled rags and a hot work light. At least I think that was the combination. The only plus side was it got him into his first Porsche.

Garage
Lucky it was confined to the area.

Idea: smoke/carbon dioxide detector in the garage.

When I was just out of college, I was visiting a shop in my hometown where they worked on furrin cars. The guys were setting cam timing on an Alfa GTV. They had it in reverse and were bumping it to turn the engine ever so slightly. Unfortunately, they had pulled the battery and set it behind the car. They gradually rolled the car back and, unseen, touched both battery posts to the underside of the gas tank. Whoosh! 30-foot fireball ensued. Not a happy day.

JP:

Sorry for the bum luck. Looks like you will have a cool build when done. I have always liked those early 'stangs.

Glad you're ok. Not a bad day really, could have been much worse and now you have a reason to change the car bit.

Today is a better day. The 65 is back home......that's the good news.
The engine quit at a stop light and the starter drive took a puke.....came home on the hook.

Did get a pic, tho. ......

Looks great!

Saw one just like that south of Charleston SC a few weeks ago.

I'd be tempted to tint the windows some.
