Ive been reading this and chuckling because this is a consistant scenario in every community that I have ever been involved in. Someone forms a club that is popular with many people. Someone else is critical of the club because they dont fit the criteria. C'mon guys....this isnt a political office we are talking about. Some say the RGruppe is hypocritical......so what? Its thier club, let them do as they please. If I form a club for blue Yugo's and decide to let a red one in because I like the guy.....well, guess what, its my club! As the old saying goes, "its good to be king" or even better "if you dont like it, start your own club"
Others say that some of the members are arrogant....big deal......your not in the club with them so why does it matter to you? Once again, this isnt public office so they can be as rude or arrogant as they want. Does your happiness really hinge on what the RGruppe does? ITS JUST A LITTLE INFORMAL CLUB. If you lay awake at night worrying about the consistancy of the rules in some guys Porsche club then maybe you need to look into additional hobbys to occupy your mind.....or at the very least some good beer. I hope no-one takes this personally, but I cant belive that this is so big of a deal to some peeps that they run up 5 pages of text..........oh no, Im part of the problem!!!

I don't know anyone in the "RGRUPPE" so I will refrain from any comments. But I did go to their website and read the "Words of hotrodding advice". I feel much better now, particularly with #28 and #38. Everyone have a pleasant day.

I love the RGruppe concept, and was going that way with my black '66 912 (the plan was to use a nearly 3 liter Type 4 engine and 15/8s under pulled out stock appearing fenders, ducktail and S front spoiler). But I wouldn't want the fact that I liked the look of the early non-flared cars better blind my to the dynamic truths of the later cars.

U know for once I agree wt Randy Wells statement about a mile back.......about liking the early 911S's better. But other than that Blah Blah Blah oh how nice it is. Who cares...... the R Gruppe guys are a bunch of pretentious Cultist's.... Out to spread the gospel according to the R Gruppe Meister. Other than that they are a bunch of nice guys who like their Porsches Bastardized.
You won't catch a set of RS or SC flares on my 69 911S I likem as GOD and DR. Porsche intended them.... as it came from the factory. An don't try an pull my pants down with the revelation that the kid next door VW can go faster. I am simply driving a moment in time when that was the best that Porsche could do, and I enjoy that fact for what it is. |

Todays recipe is ........Moroccan Lamb Shish Kebabs
1.75 lbs leg of Lamb cut up into 16 pieces Marinate in: 1/4 cup chopped fresh Parsely 2 cloves crushed Garlic 1 small onion chopped 1/3 cup Olive Oil 3 tlbspoons Lemon juice 1 tsp Cumin powder 1 tsp Paprika 1/4 tsp Cinnamon 1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper 1 tsp salt Fresh Ground pepper to taste Marinate lamb for at least 3 hours, put on skewers and Grill over hot fire until down using remaining marinated to baste. If U want to put on veggies in between Lamb chunks fine. Serve wt Pita Bread, Humus, Rice Pialf etc..... |

See, now here is the inherent problem between trying to mix food an RGruppe cars:
"Marinate lamb for at least 3 hours, put on skewers and Grill over hot fire until down using remaining marinated to baste." Stay with me on this. What we see here is a 930 recipe. That big-ass intercooler is perfect for grilling (fan-grill anyone?). A non-turbo can really only accomplish the bake function. Maybe a little foil wrapped salmon stashed against the valve covers. But grilling is so not RGruppe. Actually that reminds me of a half-arsed plan I had once to build a 3.0RS replica from a 930. Strip her down and boost her up. I ran into two problems: - I bet an intercooler doesn't fit under an IROC tail (and no offence to tea tray owners, but they don't do it for me) - it would cost $40k, which is about $40k too much right now

Well, there's not going to be a final word in this topic that's for sure....
But here's a link to some pics from the last Cambria meet.....make your own judgements on the cars...rather than what you "think" they are because of someone's posting.... http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/R_Gruppe_02/Page1.htm As you will see many cars are narrow body, non flair, no tail cars..and many more that didn't make the pics aren't either....perhaps too boring for the picture taker?? My RGruppe car isn't flaired....no tail, but I like it, and it weighs 2270 lbs like it's supposed to....the engine case is a 66 aluminum case.....and I stand by my previous posts....been there done that.....
