That's a #24 x 4 screw. BIG!

Edit - Link is for zinc. Not sure about stainless.

Google "fastners" and send the the info.

Here's what I found for NJ.

Fasteners in Northern New Jersey (NJ) on ThomasNet.com

Is it stainless?

Our Home Depot might have those (no help to you I know)...

Might have better luck trying a marine hardware store.

Thanks Guys,

MBAtarga- That's the size but it's not Stainless.

Jorian- Yes it's stainless, but I would settle for chrome plated bronze at this point.

Scottmandue- I have tried the marine and most hardware stores. The largest most carry is a size #14, I have found a #18 this as MBAtarga pointed out is #24. The closest thing I have been able to locate so far is a 3/8"x4" Stainless machine screw. With the advent of fiberglass boats and back plating to fasten hardware a wood screw this size isn't very common any longer.

1. Drive to the Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado.

2. Take along stainless steel bar and a file.

3. Ask for visitation to see - Ted Kaczynski.

Only need the ONE? Pfffft, he should have that done in...three ...maybe four weeks tops.

What is the application? Can you run a modern screw or glue& dowel in the hole first, then glue the head of the broken screw back in the countersink?

DeanP,

Bronze is my fall back option. I will have the slotted bronze screw chrome plated if I can not find a stainless screw. I spoke to Tacoma screw today. Tacoma has a #24x4 Stainless Phillips I can use as an interim fix, they are looking into a slotted head.

Dad911- The screw holds down a cleat on my boat. I really can not go down in size. The head of the screw is also large than a modern #24 but that I can live with.

Here's a photo of the damaged screw.

I checked out my supply on the boat and didn't find anything for you. Sorry. Hope you find what you need.

If you were around here, I would suggest this place:

MidStates Bolt & Screw

They may be able to steer you to someone local to you if you contact them.

If you can get access to the inside area wouldn't you be better off using a longer bolt with a washer and nut? Bolt right thru the backing plate.
