The fist bump.

Just had an elderly lady fist bump me. Coffee shop ran out for a moment and comped us when the fresh batch brewed.

Okay. I suppose it's here to stay? I'll teach my mom over the holidays.

"Exploding fingers" move as a follow thru. Too much?

Reduced germ transfer - particularly smart practice for the elderly.

The fist bump.

Good reminder. Flu shot today!

And a silent, barely perceptible nod with eye contact transfers even less icky germs

Some time ago, I met up with an older man, maybe 60ish, for a kitchen remodel job. He was some kind of executive dressed up in a suit ready to go to work. The first thing he did was stuck out his fist out. I stuck out my hand and made it awkward on purpose and made a comment about not being used to fist bumping and made a fist for him to bump. He lost a few points there imo. My dinosaur thinking has to change. I didn't get that job, thank goodness for that.

IMHO the guy thought "I'm going to meet this construction guy, I'll go play at his level and fist bump him, so I don't look like some stiff exec.". Backfired pretty good.

I am a handshake guy - there are too many variations of fist bumps etc. for me to get that right. Friends that are close enough where I could have an elaborate hand greeting get a bear hug. Take that!

One of my acquaintances stuck his fist out and I assumed the boxers stance and put up my dukes. I then asked why what I said that made him want to fight.

I don't get the fist bump crap. I am a confirmed grumpy old man. Get off my lawn.

I will sake your hand but I see no reason to fight.

Call me old school but I always extend my hand to a person I am meeting for the first time. Male or female, they both get the hand.

Same here. Sometimes I even take it out my pants first. If I really like them.
