Wierd phone call today...from a past customer.

I was up late last night, and slept late this morning.
I get awoken by a phone call. It's a customer who says "I want to order some of [my product]." so I wake up quickly, and say "Ahh ok, what can I help you with?"

He says "I'd like to order a cheeseburger and fries"

I think he's in a drive-thru window, so I wait a sec. I hear nothing on the other end, so I ask him "sorry, are you talking to me? cheeseburger?"

he says "Yes, I'd like a cheeseburger and fries"
then hangs up.

weird.

I look at the phone number, Google the area code. It's familiar.
I search my email inbox for the last four digits. Sure enough, it's a customer from 2014. Strange. NO other email contact except for a Paypal payment.
I call, no answer, but I leave a message telling him I'm unsure what that phone call was about, but if there was something I could help him with, I'd be here.

Then I went to McDonalds. And bought a cheeseburger and fries.
And I overnighted it to him...

Nice play. It'll probably look the same when he gets it.

That's a possibility, but I'm at a loss to explain why I would still be in his phone. We haven't communicated since 2014, he only placed one order. Do people usually keep company names in their contact lists?

Not unless you had a lasting impression?

Even if it gets lost and turns up five years later.

Interesting and amusing little story.

However, I'm now wondering which end of the transaction is weirder. Does Macdonalds take phone orders now? Macdonalds and Macleod are pretty close alphabetically, which is how most contact lists are sorted.

Good thing he wasn't calling Dick's Sporting Goods.
