Good luck Fred. You seem to be a very smart, level headed guy. I'm sure you'll do great.
But be realistic - the ogling never stops, you just get more circumspect about it.

No reason to believe Fred is being naive. Marriage IS a contract, but it has meaning beyond romance or finance. I can't explain it to you, but I'll be he understands.

We had a really nice ceremony on the shore at sunset, it was beautiful. As much as I like to think I am a tough guy, It was pretty emotional, I felt a little teary while reading our vows. Feels good to be married, but every time I look down at my hand, it seems like someone else's hand with that ring on it. I guess I will get used to it . Do you working guys take your rings off during the day ? Im afraid that if I start taking it off , I will end up loosing it . Oh, and we are getting new dishes, so not everything will stay exactly the same. I will post up some pics when I get to them. We spent the last 2 days on the road, and got in late last night . Thanks for all the kind words , love you guys !

New dishes ooohwheee!
![]() Just giving you crap Fred old boy, I'm happy for you guys. I know you are actually younger than I am but it doesn't have the same effect. As far as the ring, I don't take mine off unless I'm washing the paws of really stubborn grease/dirt. You working on cars for a living might want to consider the safety aspect of wearing it. Whatever you decide, advise your bride of your intention.

29 years of marriage for us. Lost my ring a long time ago. It's not important for us to wear rings any more. As mentioned above if you are working on cars etc skip the ring at least for the work hours and yard work.
A neighbor of ours nearly lost his finger jumping off a ladder as his ring caught on it. ![]() Am happy for u.

Mighty fine place to exchange the vows, Fred. My wife and I went to Ocracoke about 5 years ago, and loved it. Beautiful place with history. MOST of the folks are friendly to tourists....and kayaks. However, don't just put your kayak into the harbor from any old place on the banks...
![]() I wear my ring at work every day, but people that see it say I'm an idiot for not taking it off. It hasn't made my finger fall off in 8 years now, so I reckon I'm ok. My reason is the same as yours. Congrats Fred. You, and your wife both deserve to be happy, and feel good.

I'll bet you have a dozen black rubber O rings of the proper size. Leave the real ring at home. In an emergency, the O ring will just tear off.
