I agree. I have an I phone 6, it just doesn't work. Past couple of days, I try to delete useless stuff that pop up like weather, stock, and My Home and all that bs. AS soon as the screen goes dark, the very next time I use the phone, it comes right back. It took me three day of continues of deleting the same things ( using the same button) now most of them are gone.

I just tried it. Push side button to turn display off. Then put thumb flat on home button and press. Phone turns on, lock screen shows for 1/2 second then my app appears. I really don't know what you guys are experiencing. Do you have your thumbprint registered? Are you pushing with your finger tip so the home button sensor can't read your finger print?

I love it. One press instead of press then swipe.

I'm on iOS 10.0.2 with iPhone 6.

On the lock screen, if you swipe to the right, that brings up the screen with the widgets like weather, calendar, etc. So don't swipe right. That's not how you unlock the phone any more.

I'll NEVER upgrade again on an apple product, in fact I think I'm done with them.
I upgraded my iPhone 6 and it works perfectly. So does my wife's iPhone 6 and she is not at all technical.

Stupid? Maybe you are calling the wrong set of people stupid!

I agree completely. I love the new iOS on my iPhone 6!
