Apparently being careful about what you post is an issue.

Found myself behind this message today.

Annoyingly, it seems my wife is able to see everything from my pages on her facebook. Not that I have any secrets mind you..

I can just see where this is going to end, after adding more friends. A frantic hunt to keep up with all the updates. What a drag.

On the other hand I am keen to show my daughters that the old man gets around. Hence, albeit highly embarrassed to ask, please feel free to add me, those of you that have FB and feel inclined to add a durn forner. Please do not expect me to answer readily, I am not sure how it works just yet.. (do one answer at all by the way?..)

My name is Markus Perlhagen..

Thanks!

Markus just showed up on the people I may know with no mutual friends. FB is scary.

Glad you joined up, Markus.

BTW, even dogs have FB accounts now. Don't friend them, though. I tried that once and got harrassed for treats.

Thanks again all for your input, knowledge and comments. Maybe I am too old for this stuff but I will give it a chance.

Markus I enjoyed watching and listening to you and your daughter play musical instruments. I ask my daughter why she is not on facebook and she says she is too busy and is on the computer enough at work. I have learned a lot from facebook. I especially like the old British cars , Mustang and Lancaster threads. I will share those with my friends on facebook.

I use face book mostly as a place to say happy birthday to friends all over the place. I only have a few face book friends. I do enjoy seeing some of the people I have known long before the internet was invented. My nephew lives in Colorado and was recently in his kayak going down some crazy river. I learned a friend just got a new puppy, another friend just had a family reunion and had some great photos of their family.

During the election I quit following several people that only posted political crap. Even now the folks that just can't keep from liking some political post will get dropped. Facebook has not changed anyone's political views and I dislike any politics in my facebook feed. I wish they had a no politics button.

I blocked my retired brother. People with too much time hitting the "like" button on every little thing.

Just my observations:
I joined FB around eight years ago, a friend I grew up with in SoCal moved to Portland and convinced me to join so we could "keep in touch".
He was always a bit eccentric so I was suspicious but gave it a try.
On one of my visits up there I met my (now) wife... we chatted a bit over FB but eventually moved on to email and phone calls and weekend visits.
But I digress...

Back when I joined the membership was about two thirds to three quarters teenagers and over half the posts were about Harry Potter and Twilight (my estimates.
Fast forward to today and two thirds to three quarters of the members are adults and most of the posts are family/vacation/food/political/religious.

I don't get the hate for FB... no one is holding a gun to your head to join.

Our last administration had the IRS targeting people that contributed to the minority party. It is not too far fetched for anything I say even on this forum to be used against me by some future administration.

The amount of people I believe that would openly support people of opposing views being "sent to camps" should such opportunity arise is much higher than I should like.

Friend request sent-- I love facebook. I get to see what everyone is up to without having to talk to them. Perfect for an introvert.
