I don't really notice much of a power difference with this weather in my 944, but holy cow the more modern car has electronics that tune it just right to pull a LOT of extra.

I feel like if I went to a drag strip it could add a couple MPH to my ET.

Got to work at 6am this morning and started the Kenworth which has been parked out side but plugged in........it said -29*. let it warm up for 1/2 an hour. Loaded some sand, pulled out onto the main road, made it about 75 feet and it quit.
It restarted so i backed it back to the garage and changed both fuel filters. Ran the rest of the day fine. It's +6 now.

You don't want any exposed skin in this kind of weather.

To put the garbage out, I put on my Carhart coveralls (over jeans and a t-shirt), winter boots, heavy gloves, a scarf, ear muffs, a neoprene face mask, a balaclava, ski goggles, and a hat over that.

We're not going anywhere. The kids are staying in, and I usually let the older ones play in the snow. I have a two-month old and even taking her from the car into a store is a concern.

I shoveled the drive since it was light and fluffy and not worth trying to use the snow blower. I had my leather boots and jeans but wore a heavy coat, gloves hat and neoprene mask. I was plenty warm but we had gotten up to -3*. Also, do NOT sneeze in your neoprene mask. Ever.

I may hose it off when it warms up above freezing, or I may not. I bought this bike as a commuter vehicle (KTM Duke). I plan on it being ugly and dirty...haven't cleaned it once yet:D

One winter some salty spray got up under the tank on the R1100S. Caused all kinds of chaos. I ended up replacing a bunch of stuff and never did that again. Now the Duc just hibernates in the kitchen all winter starting with the first application of salt.

This is the main road thru my town.

Once the diesel fuel gels it's just easier to replace them.

Didn't find any water in them when i dumped them out but there may have been some still frozen inside. The fuel pressure gauge was showing around 20 pounds of restriction
so i changed them.

Colder than Mars? WTF?

From CNN.com:

Quote:

At Mount Washington Observatory in New Hampshire, the temperature will plunge to minus 35 degrees Friday night into Saturday, weather observer Taylor Regan said. At last check several days ago, the high temperature on Mars was minus 2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Minus 35? ¡Ay, caramba!
