For sure, he's not a bad guy but he also posts more "Curb Your Enthusiasm" situations here than the rest of the board combined. It's entertaining, please don't stop.

Can I pose a question?
Imagine you have just made a mistake. Would you better learn from your mistake if it were pointed out to you unemotionally, or would it be better if you had someone rage at you.

I would suggest human nature would prompt you to dismiss the message behind the raging.

I would have lectured her on the difference between right and wrong, something her parents obviously failed to do:

"what the h*** is wrong with you? Don't you know that you shouldn't be messing with other people's property? Keep your darn hands off my stuff and grow the F*** up!"

Or something along those lines.

Old Joe live down the street at 1326 Mayfair drive, and everyone knew him.
He liked the drink sure enough.
Sports games and holidays with friends, weekends, aww heck even five whiskey lunches with the boys and then back to work driving that rig around.
And when he drank he got loud.

His boys were a tight bunch loud and boisterous and Joe got emboldened by that.
He wanted to stay on top.
A curious sense of humor, and a different personality.
All the local knew when to stay away when he was on that level.

Joe liked to mess around with strangers a bit.
Couldn't keep his own hands to himself.
No harm done, usually, but it sure shook up a few people along the way.
Push off someone's hat, flip up a skirt, open a car door and jump in, jump on their hood like a monkey, pour some red juice on a white dress, grab someones suitcase or stroller and watch them squirm, steal a pie in a window, pumpkins and holloween were the worst.
When he was snookered he'd say "hey fellas hold my beer and watch this"!
Everybody in town but those strangers knew to stay out of Old Joe's way.

But then all his boys started doing the same things.
There were now 20 new Joes walking around at any moment.

The townspeople had to stay sharp if they wanted their groceries to make it back home safely.
They just couldn't take a joke.

For me, as I get older, over reacting has no reward......... I consciously avoid it.

People suck........... no point in getting wound up about it.

It is my observation of the type of person I believe to be in question that the difference between the two approaches you mention would only make a difference in the vulgar word used to describe you when they talk about the event afterwards.

Calmly pointing out unemotionally would get you called a particular body part possessed by males.

Emotionally pointing it out without calm would get you called a body part possessed by both males and females.

Do you think she gave it more than 30 seconds of thought? She probably walked off and thought "what's the big deal?" yet, here it is days later and Look171 is still upset. Holding onto bitterness is like drinking poison and then wanting the other person to get sick. He got more torment than her but his is self-inflicted.

Make no mistake, she was wrong. I think it is great that Jeff "is a great guy" (I don't know him) but I have to ask WHY is it such a big deal days later? There was no harm done so either he has anger issues that are festering days later and is in torment over something that is history or he just is a drama queen that likes to draw attention with the story.

Jeff: let it go. Life is too short to hold onto bitterness. Enjoy your family. There are those that wish they had one.

Read his OP and you'll see he had an issue with her before she ever came to his car. " While we were waiting for the folks in front of us to move their car, these bunch of four to five women (all in their mid 30s) came out talking very loudly looking for attention also waiting.".

You’re right.

I’m sure she would have given it at least 31 seconds of thought had he been polite.

I don’t see “Just had lunch with....” as stewing for days.

Sounds pretty fresh to me.

And, there is some issue that is more than her just grabbing the door.

I might not have said anything harsh right off the bat, but my spidey senses would be going full blast and ready to act if she made the wrong move. What if she had grabbed a kid while you’re all belted in?

Drunk and stupid is no excuse.

I was going to post, no one is mentioning the elephant in the room, you pointed it out.

Better responses when the door swung open:

- (in a creepy voice) Get in, I have candy!

- Oh no not this crap again, look lady I am married, leave me alone.

- Sorry!! This is not the shuttle to the VD clinic! That is the van behind me.

My son is all grown up and doing very well away at school, he's technically a junior after only 6 months of college (straight As).
