In a strictly legal sense, (just for perspective), it's always about what your damages are. You had none. She opened your door and it annoyed you but annoyance isn't a legitimate damage, pretty sure anyways.

Yeah, some of these middle aged women when they have had a few drinks with their friends, phew, they would do anything. Trouble is; I'm always at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is an absolute batschit crazy post and sounds like an extreme argument for gun control. She could grab the wrong door handle at a valet parking stand 1000 times and never get shot. If she was, it would be murder. People jump in the wrong car all the time by accident in that setting. Half the cars in L.A. are black Tesla S sedans and the other half are white ones.

But I don't wanna cross a mama bear like Porschegal protecting her cubs either....sometimes one just reacts. This time mama bear was cool...Jeff lost his cool and perspective....jmho.

Wouldn't have bothered me at all...

Total overreaction on your part. You need horse tranquilizer.

I would have just watched them. Maybe they would have all got in. Then you could have drove away with them.

What I've seen before is a drunken buffoon walking up and throwing a leg over a complete strangers motorcycle, thinking he's funny. That... can turn into a problem.

One of the dumb asses said, "This is my car, this is my car" jokingly and decided to pull on our door handle and tried closed the door really quickly. The automatic sliding doors opens. I flew off the handle and started screaming at her. Her fooking reply was,"Its a joke, can you take a joke?". I want off on her even more. She couldn't own up to her mistake and just apologize. My mistake was I unlock all my doors as long as I start my car. I hate door locking features.

What would you guys have done in my situation? Let it go and move on or fly off the handle like me?
Lets pretend that you live in a small town of say 2,000 people somewhere in America. Someone local to you does this and you react this way. Any idea what this is going to do to your reputation in town?

I also believe that people are wound way, way too tight in the cities these days. I'm thankful that we live in a small town or at least in a quiet 'burn in SoCal. I don't get why people are so aggressive towards their brothers and sisters.

To everyone who is criticizing Jeff (look 171) - some in quite the harsh fashion I might add ......

1) he posted his story here in a fashion that represented a bit of remorse for what he did so I don't see the need to bag on him.

2) he's only asking for opinions and feedback - not for bashing

3) he had his family in his vehicle and some loon comes up and not only touches his vehicle but breaches it - in this day and age of carjackings and terrorist crap - you just don't do that - regardless of whether the perpetrator has no ill intentions

4) Jeff has a solid reputation here - he's a worker bee - family man - just trying to get through this thing called "life" - as are we all - so let's bolster our community and stand with each other - not against each other

5) Happy Easter everyone - especially you and yours Jeff!

Sorry.

Still not giving Jeff any crap over this.

The woman invaded HIS space with complete and utter lack of respect or consideration for HIM purely for HER own amusement.

That was bad enough on its own.

When called out not only did she NOT apologize for her behavior she intimated it was Jeff who was the problem.

**** her.

She deserved everything she got.

Sometimes stupid has to hurt.

If everyone reacted this way to her stupidity she might learn.

If it is just the odd person here or there she'll conclude that the person reacting is the odd one.

Calm would have been the way to handle it.

No matter what I doubt she'd learn. When I realize that someone won't learn I dramatically adjust down the time talking to them to a simple "calmly let them know and I move on".

I've also found that a lot of actions can be cumulative in sparking a reaction.

I don't drink Coffee, but if some one kept finding the machine empty and in need of cleaning for several days in a row - it may be a different person doing that each time; but when you see someone get the last coffee and walk off you just might lower the boom on them.

Was she out of line? Yes. Was it a capital offense? No.

If it wasn't for the stupid automatic opening door on the minivan, her little joke would have been a big nothing and you might not have known it was happening if other doors were being closed on vehicle at the time.

I've had people open my back door of sedan and jump in, thinking I was their Uber in DTLA Arts District at night. Multiple times and they were not always drunk. Happened more when I was driving a black, late model sedan. If I ever went to nightclubs, it would happen more.

It's part of living in the big city in the 21st century. I realize that's not exactly what happened here but a little perspective, people. I have no problem delineating an actual threat from some dumb drunk opening my car door. Especially a woman, obviously in a group celebrating something. If he did not want feedback on his reaction, he would not have come here specifically asking for it. If I posted every insignificant, awkward moment of my life here, I'd have no time for slapping' cratches and enjoying life.

People aren't perfect. Sometimes they may even have a glass of wine, or two. They make mistakes from time to time. Relax and enjoy the ride

No doubt Jeff is one of the "good guys" here...without question. I wasn't there....so I'll leave it up to someone who was....his wife, and defer to her .

I just would not have lost my cool in that situation. He didn't feel threatened, just over-reacted to a clueless person who probably had a drink or two, out with friends, and did something dumb imo. BTDT.....the latter (a bunch), the former....very, very, very rare...YMMV.

There are two sides to a risk. She took a risk and lost. She would have won the risk had all concerned been entertained by her stunt.
But such was not to be so.
Made a fool of myself enough times to say, "Oh well, eh?'
.
Next case.

A lot of us are just having a little fun with Jeff. We all know he's one of the good guys here. I'd bet it's been weeks since he's beaten the hell outa some drunken middle aged woman...
