Endless phishing phone calls to my cell

Over the last few months the number has gone from one or two a week to 3 or 4 a day.

Mostly the same BS. "this is your credit card company, there is no problem but you have been selected for special new low rates."

Something similar to that.

So a couple of times I pushed the number to speak with a representative and simply asked them to stop calling. They just hung up. I did it again on the next call, when I asked them to stop calling he said, "nope" and hung up. Finally the last person said "tough ****" and hung up.

Infuriated me. You can block the numbers because the number you see on your phone is not the one they're calling from. They also choose a number which has an area code same as mine and other similar digits.

Anyone know how to stop these punks?

Same problem here, and often from my area code so they appear to be legit. Effing pieces of $h!t. I'm getting to where I just don't answer unless I know the number.

Installed Hiya on my iPhone. It is free and automatically sends them to voice mail or blocks em depending on setting. Does texts as well.

Can block anyone not in your contacts, of just block spoofed local numbers and numbers on their telemarketers list.

Same area code and same first three numbers as my phone so I think its a local call. Nope not falling for it anymore.

I NEVER answer if I don't recognize the number.

I am very stingy with my cell number.

Have had the same one 25 years and want to keep it unpolluted.

I have a google voice number that forwards to my cell for those people I need to give a number to and be reached via mobile.

FWIW and some have already figured out, same area code and first 3 numbers, a scammer every time.

Wow, just like email spam, I wish there was a special place for the folks that profit/plan stuff like this.

A place where they have to sit through every single message sent by automation read to them by a text reader non stop until it finishes reading.

The worst thing for me is it jars me out of what I was doing to answer my phone. I am not on a smart phone.

What's sad is that somebody, somewhere, is dumb enough to fall for it.

My wife's uncle sold a piano online for his mother, who is in a nursing home. Buyer is in OK, sends a check for something like $1,700, $1,200 of which is for him to pay the shipper when the piano is picked up. Then the buyer contacts him because the shipper now needs the payment upfont, could he please send $1,200 back via Western Union money order - this is the part where my face hits palm as my wife is telling me the story. Then, big shock, the check bounces and the seller quit answering the phone. An ancient scam that he fell for without even questioning.

If you have an iPhone, this feature already exists. Simply turn it on in settings and your phone will never ring if the calling number is not in your contacts list.

These guys have developed a "bot" that will keep them on the phone automatically and waste their time!

Like antivirus programs, the company that developed the spoofing software most likely is behind the app that blocks it for a charge......

Screw them all. I just don't answer and changed my vm message to tell people that if they want to talk to me....leave a message or text me and tell me who they are.

Can you please provide more specific instructions. I went to setting and then phone but only found how to add to block list. Where in settings? Thanks for help in advanced.

Anyone know how to stop these punks?
first get their name and or employee ID and company info
then you have to tell them to put you on their do not call list.
nest time they call report them.

I was getting a good bit for a while. seems to have slowed down.
they also use my area code and first 3 numbers of my phone,
I don't answer if I don't know the number.

I thought their was a web site for the do not call list,

I know they just call numbers in numerical order, but I still don't see the need to give my number out and some stores just to buy something. harbor freight always asks for your number. I don't give it out.

Whenever I’m asked for my number, I give it. I mean my old boss’s number. Pay it forward!
