Awesome work mate! You clearly know you your trade...

Rust free - that's all that matters!

Jagshund 10-21-2010 06:00 PM

Hey! Dat's not factory! What're you gonna do next, drape it in some non-factory color? Blasphemy!!

super rat 10-21-2010 07:27 PM

thanks people,im tinkin by days end saturday i might get er done.but im workin on the tougher side now.i was gonna paint it black unless something blasphemous would be a better idea

pksystems 10-22-2010 03:58 AM

Fishcop 10-22-2010 05:05 AM

"Dog Dick Red"... otherwise known as Fraise...

Jagshund 10-22-2010 07:13 AM

I can't think of anything that would really tick people off. I've already seen a Raspberry (metallic pinkish) 997 ordered from the factory. Interior and exterior.

Paint it Canary Yellow, keep the fenders off, slap a Ford emblem on the back and ask to enter it into your local PCA concours.

wow.... you're making everything  not quite oem style, but as long as it it's strong enough. What gauge steel are you using for the floor/inner rocker section? I was using 16-18ga thinking I was going way thicker then it should have been. The restoration design floor pan I eventually ordered looked at least 18ga

super rat 10-23-2010 09:27 PM

its 18 gauge, its def thicker than what was on there, but the factory beadrolls make it more rigid for sure.i just figured this would be plenty strong.

super rat 10-24-2010 06:40 PM

i ordered some por 15,do most a you guys spray it or brush it? if spraying,do you need to thin it with anything?

Fishcop 10-24-2010 11:59 PM

POR is designed to cover rusty metal... with your job, I would be inclined to use a quality 2-part epoxy primer and spray.

Jagshund 10-25-2010 03:54 PM

I brush POR15. Scour new metal first for better results; if it's rusty it'll stick no problem. Also pour it into another container and seal the original- store in fridge. I've had it last indefinitely that way, but a friend does his in a mason jar in his garage and it's been there for quite a while, too.

super rat 10-25-2010 06:59 PM

yea,i kinda have to use it now, since i spent 130 bucks on it!probably shouldnt have bougt a gallon,i dont think my wife will let me keep it in the frig.
