well,im pretty much past the real mentally taxing parts,i should get most te floor finish tues, then ill tackle the pain in the arse stuff in front of the floor kinda by the pedals.

I remember that area well. If you need a new rack mount they're available from several sources- think I paid $20 for one before deciding not to go back with the stock stuff.
|
|
by rack do you mean the the mount for the sway bar? also,if anyone can give me some advice,i was gonna buy some 1/4 inch cold rolled roundstock and bead the outer fender lips, that way it will make thefender more stout if the tire hits it,i just hate it when the lip gets a ripple, seems like the whole fender line gets deflected...just thinkin..

It sounds like you're looking for drill rod. It's going to be harder to form then hot rolled steel, but I guess that's the idea. Here's an excerpt from the McMaster Carr website (McMaster-Carr). If you do a search for 'drill rod', you'll notice that they have a number of different alloys available too.

sub'd. The inner fender roll is a good idea. I've wrinkled fenders before with tires too big.

yeah,i'd rather have the tire kinda bounceoff it as opposed to grabbing the lip and tearing at it. i didnt get much time on the car today, but i'll post a couple pics.im hopin to be flippin the car over this weekend,i gotta start on a guys convertable karman ghia next week

I was referring to the steering rack. I reinstalled it to be sure of the fit of the pedal area- also came in handy when putting the new mount on (captured nut in the right place might do the trick as well).
|
yeah,i probably need to modify the floor a little at the pedal area. ok picture time,i spent half the day making the rocker area to the rear flair, screwed it all up so igotta re-do it. i hate that!

That's such great work Super Rat, physically it'll look just like it's meant to.
I had Ducatis until I discovered Porsches... ;) |
Wow, that really is some outstanding metal work, symmetrical and consistent.

This is one of the most interesting threads I have seen!
Your sheet metal abilities are amazing (and your taste in bikes is top-notch too!) I will keep watching this story in detail. Thank you for sharing! |
