Customized Front Bumper.
I'm not the first to do this, but I saw it on the forum and wanted to duplicate the look. Also, my car is a 70 T that someone before me in the 70's or 80's wanted to update to the later look witrh 74 - 86 style bumpers, etc. I needed a bear metal repaint and didn't want the added cost of back dating, so that's my starting point.
The update kit used metal brackets to mount to the body at the same attachment points. ![]() The front rubber strip conceled the mounting bolts. so to lose the strip meant new aluminum brackets I had cut by one of those high pressure water jet cutters. ![]() also cut a front aluminum strip and welded it in. ![]() Used some body filler to shape it up ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() did the same smoothing process to the rear bumper.

This is something I'd like to do on my SC.
In this application aren't you welding aluminum (replacement strip) to steel (bumper)? What type of wire and gas did you use? Would my Miller 140 be able to handle this? I like that semi custom look, while still keeping the original bumper.

no, the bumper is also aluminum... I didn't weld it myself, but took it to a shop that uses a stick welder.

After I asked the "newbe" question I went out to check; I threw a magnet on the bumper and it slid right off. Thanks for the reply and nice work on your car.
