So sorry I didn't build MY car to YOUR specifications but...

If I wanted your opinion, I'd give it to you! ;)
Muwahahaha...

We like sugar scoops:)

Thanks for the support Mike! I like both types but think the sugar scoops look good on my car and yours. To my eye, it's color dependent.

A bit of an update: Okay, after some colorful language and frustration, I finally got my front windshield installed! Third times a charm I guess. My rear window put up the same fight but both went in easily on the third attempt. Grrrrr... Once I got that sucker installed, it was like I'd won the Super Bowl! The neighbors prolly think I'm nuts watching me flex my chest and carrying on. :D

Here's the proof:

I highly recommend picking up some of those suction cups from Harbor freight... $12 made it an easy one man job!

For the naysayers... the glass was $135 from a local collision parts house and fits just fine! I opted for the standard green/blue tinted glass without the tint strip at the top. The seal came from our host.

More Bits Added

I got my RS door panels made up!

I used the AppBiz clear plastic membranes as a template. After taping one on the door, I marked where I wanted holes and such for the door card. I picked up some water resistant door card material, 1/2" foam and some plastic mounting washers that included some snap on beauty caps to cover the screws from the local upholstery supply store. The straps are leather (from our host) and the handles are chromed metal (same as the RSR plastic ones) from a Fiat 500! I used the German vinyl that is found covering the A and B pillars sourced from Auto's International. I'm also adding the 1/4 moon trim strip on the leading and trailing edges also from AppBiz.

Total cost was a bit more than the kits but I think the result is relatively better.

I'm awaiting the edge trim (hopefully it'll be here today) so I can install these... I'll post a photo once they're in! :D

I know you've had some obtacles to overcome, but this sure is one pretty car. Great taste and amazing patience, stick-to-it-ness have yielded gorgeous results. Well done. John

Ugh. So good.

This is almost exactly what I have been planning to do. I don't know if you are convincing me to do it (because it's clearly possible) or not to (because it's clearly a daunting task).

So good, though.

Thank you!

It just takes time and $. I treat each thing as an individual project. For instance, I'm working on the seats now so I'll just plug away until they're done before I go onto something else. Fortunately, I have more time than $ so I'm able to pay closer attention to the details rather than focusing on timeliness. ;)

78SCRSMAN 05-26-2014 08:10 AM

I couldn't be happier about how the seats turned out! Black perforated black Alcantara inserts with vinyl skins and Recaro double locking sliders. All told cost me $1100! :D

That is real close to the 37 pounds of the Sparco "Torinos" we talked about, I would still like to try a pair of the Corbeau "Classic Buckets" at 15 pounds each tho',

962porsche 05-28-2014 10:33 AM

the car looks great .
when it comes to peoples builds I tend to keep my opinions to my self but you and John along with a hand full of others really impress the hell out of me !
I have seen so called body men that can't hold a candle to the quality of work you guys have done and are doing .

wachuko 06-05-2014 11:45 AM

Just coming along marvelous!!

saxen 08-10-2014 11:07 PM

bump!!! any updates?

78SCRSMAN 08-11-2014 08:53 AM

Big thanks for 962porsche! Much appreciated comments!!!

Nothing to report on progress... it's been a great summer here with higher than normal temps so I've been having a super awesome summer playing in the sun and spending a lot of time with my little one and the GF! ;) I hope to dig back in this fall and winter though so stay tuned!

P.S. The seats tuned out great and are so very comfy for my 6ft, 185lb bod! Love them and glad I kept them!
I secretly sit in them (they are mounted in the car now) from time to time and do a little daydreaming but don't tell anyone! :D

schnellmann 08-31-2014 04:44 PM

Holy crap amigo! You have made some truly phenomenal progress since I checked in last. The farm keeps me really busy these days. I've only squeezed in one track day a year the last two years. Ugh. The car languishes for weeks at a time in the garage. I think it's starting to resent me.

Anyway, we'll have to meet up out the hot dusty middle somewhere when you finally get it rolling under its own steam. I can't wait to see it in the flesh. Or better yet, lets meet at Oregon Raceway Park. ;)
