Hey all,
It's been awhile... although I haven't done a huge amount of things to my car, I have done some stuff so here is my update! :D Last update, I believe I was working on the rear brakes so here's how both front and rear turned out: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383933509.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383933549.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383933586.jpg After the brakes were finished (I now have a complete braking system sans fluid!!!) it was time to get the car ready to move to it's new home so had to do the wheels... I have two 16X7's (Fuchs) and two 16X8's (fakenfuchs) The 8's in the process of refinishing (strip, polish the lips and paint the centers) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383933836.jpg The 7's: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383933895.jpg And now, drumroll please... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383933970.jpg Sheeyeah baby! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383934010.jpg |
Okay so I'm presently working on the pop-out quarter windows... I somehow ended up with two drivers side windows  so I have only one side done (save for refinishing the latches) while the other should be on it's way!
I decided not to install the correct sill trim since the window seals against the window opening anyhow... I think it turned out fine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383934325.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383934365.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383935458.jpg My baby safely tucked away in her new digs... I think she likes it! ;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1383935548.jpg I plan to ramp things up a bit from what has been a crazy year for me so stay tuned! SmileWavy |
Good job Derek - progress is progress. Things always work out, one way or another.

Wow!! Looking great! Welcome back!!

Doing the fitment of rear bumper in my car... any chance you can take and share a photo of yours? The corner area, to see how much the bumper sticks out on the side... where the bumper meets the fender flair... hope that makes sense...
|
Wachuko,
Keep in mind the bumpers I purchased didn't fit for crap so I spent a ton of time making them fit the way I wanted which was as if they were factory parts. Hopefully yours are better ;) Is this what you're looking for? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390146161.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1390146223.jpg |
Yes! Perfect, thank you!!

Well it's looking good... I ended up cutting mine into 4 pieces! I'm happy with how it turned out though ;)
|
Any updates? :)

Not really... I've got the other pop-out in but still need to deal with the latches which I'll address soon. (I'll post up some photos when they are complete) Also getting ready to order the front windshield, short shift kit, Seine Gate Shift and a couple other little doo-dads but nothing super exciting. These things will pave the way for the interior carpet, door panels and seats though :D
At the moment, I'm trying to decide whether to polish the shifter base or use a leather shift boot. With that spring sticking out for the gate kit, I'm leaning toward polishing it. I'd prefer to buy the hidden gate shift made by "The Coupler Whisperer" but he has suspended production due to family matters. :( |
I have one of those in the '67 912... I was planning on doing a leather cover for it...

Yeah, just been browsing some photos and now thinking the same thing... looks kinda fugly bare like that, plus I already have a leather boot. Another thing I'm considering is lengthening the shift lever. Guess I need to find one to sit in and see if the reach is acceptable asis. I'm a six footer but kind of a knuckle dragger! I can always add one later I guess.

Small update... I finally got those pesky rear pop-out windows in and done! Moving on now!!!
Three boxes showed up on my doorstep today, all from our host! Should keep me busy for awhile. ;) Next on the list is the front windshield, shifter mods (short shift and gate shift) and coupler bushings (from the coupler whisperer). Once these items are finished I can move onto the interior. A couple shots of them windows... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393715230.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393715267.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393715301.jpg |
Nice detail going with black pulls/locks. Car is coming along great.

Got my 915 shifter done today!
Factory short shift and Seine Gate Shift mods are done! I'm waiting on a new knob and George's bushings to complete the job. Here's the proof: I welded the tab and chopped the excess bolt too ;) Okay, Seriously! WTF is the deal with the upside down photos? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393980799.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393980853.jpg |
Nice!!!!!
|
On the photos... that is weird... I can see them normal on my iPad... and upside down on my computer... that is weird...
|
RE Photos: Maybe an Apple thing... they were taking using my iPhone. Maybe the rotation I'm holding it!?
Anyway... funny thing. People (friends, family, co-workers, etc.) are always asking how this thing is coming along. It's down to the, save a bunch of coin over a few months to buy parts that take ten minutes to install. Gotta love it! Like my parents always said... nothing worth while is easy or free! :p Here's my latest addition: Factory short shifter with Seine Gate shift and how about that killer knob? Love it! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1394250565.jpg |
Shift knob looks amazing!! Well done!!
