Here's a timelapse of the progress I've made on this 1969 Porsche 911s race car that I'm converting back into a street car. I had to completely rebuild the back end, both quarter panels, and the front end, as well as a blasphemous power plant choice!

It's been really fun so far.

My rear suspension control arm pickup points had to be refinished, since the original had been cut off. I had a 3” square tube to modify.

Sized with calipers, cut, and narrowed, ready for welding.

Test fit, pre welding.

How do you plan to keep your alignment settings without anything to hold the bolt in the slot ?

I am surprised you are not getting much feedback on here Michael, but I think you are doing an amazing job on the build, experimenting, learning and figuring things out as you go.

Glad to see that your Youtube channel is really picking up, too!

Thanks Lukas! Yeah, it seems I can’t get any traction with this build thread, so I have mostly given up on it. The channel is finally starting to experience some good growth though!

So...I did my first captive nut thing just now. Before I weld in the bottom of my rear seat section, I needed captive nuts so I could mount the battery. So, I made this bracket, drilled the holes, then welded on this captive nut set up. It looks awesome!

Looks great, you better show us some details in a video!

I ended up buying a Rivnut Kit because it seemed that Jeff from Home Built used them all of the time... of course I have yet to have the opportunity to use them.

I will, of course! There’s going to be a mega video or two coming out this week.

SO much cool fabrication on this one. I have (had?) a giant hole where a rear seat would have been, so I've had to custom fabricate all of the sections to accommodate my Porsche 996 (G96) transmission into this 1969 body, plus make a spot for an Odyssey 925 battery and my Haltech ECU. I had 30+ hours of work in this video! Hope you enjoy.

From a structural support perspective, if you are trying to limit "oil canning" or flexing of a flat surface like a drum, you might want to consider using a reinforcing element that has a vertical rib, something along the lines of angle iron. Using flat bar/strap material may not provide the structural support that I think you are hoping for.

well, you're probably right! I thought about that, and I think if I were leaving it raw steel, I'd probably go that route. But after undercoating on the underside, some sort of dynamat on the topside, I think it will be ok. Thanks for the suggestion.

We aren’t in Kansas anymore, Toto. An incredibly cool visit to 3D scan some parts I’m prototyping for production.
