Solid to hydraulic lifter conversion?

I did a search, and it seems like it is possible. But I am wondering if anyone sells a kit, or has actually done this.

I'm looking to convert a 3.0sc engine to hydraulic lifters, and the easiest path to do so while the engine is apart being rebuilt and converted to 3.2SS.

Thanks!!

I am confused. Where exactly do you think these lifters go in an air cooled 911 overhead cam motor?

#18 is the cam
#19 is the rocker arm
#20 is the valve.

I do not see a lifter anywhere in the picture.

Usually people convert back the other way for more performance/revs. Priced 993 rockers arms and lifters lately? Also you would need an oil filter on the pressure circuit so a larger oil cooler up front to add on as well. Cubic dollars here unless you have a bunch of 3.6 parts lying around.

I believe the standard way people upgrade to hydraulic lifters is called a 3.6 upgrade.

If you are ambitious, a variocam could be possible with the chain box setup on the air cooled motors

Besides the difficulty of this you are changing what is a classic design....you could kill the resale of your vehicle.

Last concern on my list.... I bought a car to drive, not worry about its investment status.

It would not increase HP one bit, just add a lot of complex oiling to your engine.

The valve adjustment would not be necessary, but unless you drive a LOT that is not an issue.

It is your car, and your money, do what you want. But like others have mentioned, your best bet is do a 3.6 upgrade. Lots more HP, and all engineering is done already. And likely not much more than the cost of a hydraulic conversion on a 3.2

this seems to only address converting the solid lifters on a 964 (3.6l engine) to use the hydraulic "bits" from a 993 -- don't think head design on a 3.0l sc engine would be compatible --

Got ya. I also found a few links for converting them on a 3.3 as well.
