...while, yes, they started with a G Body, they opted for 964s primarily for the superior suspension. When I asked after 993, they told me they factored it out due to the 993's LSA rear suspension not allowing them to run the deep dish rear wheels that are an important part of the aesthetic.

Yes, look like mud flaps to me. Can you imagine a power on reverse slinging mud up and all over the car?

In an are with no paved roads or just sub-par pavement, I could embrace it.
Wait : I am surrounded by horrible roads!
Now, only it if they made an affordable version or if I was filthy rich...

I love it. I think they've reached a point where it doesn't really make sense to use a Porsche chassis, but they probably need it for the VIN plate. Turbo engine seems like a lot of complication for that power level, on something that should be simple and rugged. I'm sure the engine is incredible though, I suppose it's a nod to the 959, and they need to keep pushing the limits.

I appreciate it. The level of engineering is phenomenal. Would I buy it...No, I can't afford any Singer.

A turbo lets you perform at altitude. My first assumption was the buyer lives or travels at altitude.

I’ve heard the same but I never really bought it. Back when Singer decided on the 964, they were much less desirable and more readily available. I really think that was the main reason for them settling on that generation. The superior suspension comments are a bit rubbish to anyone that understands what you can achieve with the earlier cars.

The 964 trend has definitely gone towards keeping a 964 looking like a 964. So it will be interesting to see if 964 backdates become less of a thing.

As for the ACS, I think it’s quite the business personally. I love seeing things that are different and this definitely falls into that category. Not sure if it’s how I would personally spend 1M+ but I sure wouldn’t mind a go in it.

Similar to the Cybertruck in that it was a little jarring the first time I saw it, but it’s growing on me...

No, nothing Porsche. All that's really left is the roof skin (modified) and some floor sheetmetal.

They don't design their own car because, I hypothesize, they can't/won't pay for that extra privilege. It's a huge cost to certify a car for global market, but I nevertheless would encourage them to become a true manufacturer. There are special provisions for low volume production.

I do have respect for the development they put into their creations. I actually quite like the exterior, there are a lot of cues from Porsche's own conceptual design work.

I imagine it would be a great fun car. That is, after all, the whole point.

I am glad they came up with some fresh new styling that isnt simply a longhood-on-roids. A look towards the future emphasizing their engineering and design capabilities.

I can see where it may be polarizing for some. But I love that it is forward thinking in design and the fit and finish looks like what the Porsche factory could have put out. The RC car look still retains the Porsche roofline, but than just like some of Porsche famous race cars where the rest of the body is built around that roofline is awesome. Add in that rear end as an homage to the 959 and this car is fast and functional for what it’s intention is. The article specified that the owner already has other Singers and commissioned two more off road builds for racing.

Maybe after the 964s dry up they can just buy Porsche 992 chassis straight from the factory like RUF and it will feel less sacrilegious losing so many 964s.

with the obsession for pushing the boundaries of "design"Can someone please inform them, that merely using a 911 shell of a certain age as a base, and filling it with every modern technological advancement Is not "re imagination" Its simply replacement.
An accidental side effect no doubt, of pandering to a market who buy them the same way they choose an Audemars Piguet or a Holland & Holland.
Singer have managed to destroy the soul of the most iconic sports cars ever built.Quite an achievement.
I cant even blame Americans lack of taste. The CEO is English!

Coomo, good bit of writing, right there. Same people who say “bespoke” every 90 seconds. And touch themselves while reading Octane!

Be well, John

I can still do all of the above for less money than this car and the clean up is easier!

Bravo Singer & Tuthill.... While the styling is subjective, the engineering, detailing and execution is hard to fault.

I'm very confident that all of the haters above will be much more welcoming to the new model later this year that will be utilizing the twin turbo motor....

I wonder what it would look like lowered, different tire package and different rocker covers. Like a modern 961 tarmac car...

This is a clever move from them. It adds a 47th chromosome to the Reimagined Porsche genome. Distinctly Porsche DNA, with obvious allusions to the 959 and RSR, but very much it’s own creature now. There is an end of the line for “reimagining” 964s and Singer needs to expand into true OEM status to add another growth vector. This is a clever first step in that direction that moves them far enough afield so as not to horse trade their core, while still keeping their nexus with Porsche (as that’s validating). Partnering with Tuthill is a master stroke in that regard as he’s got rally provenance and is a brand unto himself.

Agree since a Class 10 has 20 inches of suspension travel this ACS has closer to 10 inches travel (265mm).
