Can't think of a more fun to car to buy if you had a spare bajillion dollars sitting around.
Looks like a seriously fast and well set up car that is very capable.
Wouldn't expect anything else with Tuthill involved.

Check out the video. I think it's got impressive performance....not just looks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcJO4Ugu1CA Oops, same vid as the instagram above.

And yes I'd sell or do whatever I needed to, to own one. I'm seriously considering contacting Singer and asking them about making a RHD version. (If I decide to go ahead it would be used off road only.)

And something to think about: As more companies make restomods based on our car the more our cars go up in value.
- So regardless of what you think of this particular car it's all good really.

One thought that comes to mind... "Bang up to date" That's amazing when you remember this is based on a 30 year old car.

Some of the shots in this video look like a very good 3D game.

I stood in the Porsche Works Garage in Nairobi, Kenya, as a young kid in the late 70's. My dad helped out with the transporters that followed around and provided support for the 2 actual "safari rally" cars. Seeing these "safari" cars, "safari studies" make me uneasy and sad....

They have nothing to do with the "Safari Rally" cars what so ever.

Ya, that is me the dorky kid with the blond hair. But, there are great stories associated with the relationship my dad forged with the factory guys....

Could you say more, Jeff? Do you think any latter day attempt to make a safari car would be sad, or is there a way to do it right? If so, how would you do it?

Don't fool yourself; it isn't based on a thirty year old car.

All it shares is some basic sheetmetal, greenhouse, and a VIN. The latter being most important with regard to the company's strategy. The strategy itself a topic for other discussion.

Isn't the view from behind the steering wheel the one that's supposed to be the most important?

Idk. Singer is officially “trying too hard”. These Porsches evolved over many decades. Reinventing them every few years to be current is myopic in my opinion.

The fact that Singer has asked WAE to explore the limits of the 911 platform cannot be a bad thing. I’m curious what else this collaboration will bring.

I'm not fooling myself at all and thanks for the explanation but I've been following Singer since the beginning. I'm well aware that the cars are heavily modified.

Calling them a "safari" car is the sad part. I get the marketing angle and capitalizing on a current popular trend and nomenclature. I have no issue with trying to build an offroad car. Porsche did a great job of that later on with the 911 SC/RS and Paris-Dakar 959. How would I do it? I wouldn't, as I have no way to use a car like that. If a client wanted us to build one, we would do our research and build a vehicle that suited their needs perfectly. But we would not call it a Safari.... All the hype around "safari' reminds of when it was popular to update a long hood car to a short hood car. Then decades later, backdate a short hood to a long hood. All trends come and go, I get it. But the Safari thing is near and dear to me personally.

I have no doubt the car in question is very capable. I have been to the Singer Factory and have a unique parts connection to their road cars. I like what they do.

Then what is a Safari car?

A car built to run the Safari Rally is a "safari car". Other wise they are off-road cars or rally cars or whatever....

The same way a car built to run on the track isn't a "LeMans" car or a "Daytona" car. Its a track car or a race car. Make sense?

Singer ACS “origin story”? Every superhero needs one. If Singer’s marketing dollars were behind this production, then I suppose this is theirs. Heaping a lot on Tuthill’s rally pedigree but there is no question he knows how to drive.
