930/50 - Turbo 3.0 engine on a 75

911/53 - US Turbo 3.0 engine fitted on a 77

moonraker36 12-23-2015 01:14 PM

It was 930/50, not 911/50. :-)

Engine - Chassis match ?

Hello all,

I have been reading up on the matching numbers enigma ...

My VIN is WP0ZZZ91ZHS102623, this checks out to be a '87 911 carrera coupé, which is correct.

The engine number is 63H03523, which, if my information is correct, is also consistent with that car ('87 carrera coupé 930.20 engine - 3.2l, 170 kw/231hp).

When I research the engine number, Elferhelfer - Fahrzeug-Identifizierung info says the production of this engine in '87 amounts to 3381 cars. How come my engine is build# 3523 ?

Hope you can solve the mystery

Many thanks !

Kurt

Update

I contacted my local porsche center by mail and received almost immediate reply from after sales dept.
The numbers match. ;-)

Help with numbers please!

I have a couple of engine numbers and a VIN (chassis) number I'd just like confirmation on if anyone can help please-

VIN No- 9112500267 (believed to be a 72 T?)

Engine No- 6272180 (a 77 2.7?)

Engine No- 6273328 (unknown?)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Andy

VIN No- 9112500267 (believed to be a 72 T?) yes, for European market with carbs, not fuel injection

Engine No- 6272180 (a 77 2.7?)
Engine No- 6273328 (unknown?)
both are 1977 type 911/85 2.7L 911S for North America

The engine is a 1980 USA SC.

Should be engine type 930/07. 180hp @ 5500 rpm.

turntwo 09-22-2016 09:49 AM

So does that mean the VIN# is non USA?

Yes your VIN is for a 1979 RoW but your engine does not match as it should be 6390001-on, Type 930/03

glenninsandiego 12-13-2016 03:55 PM

I just got a 1974 911S and the engine number is 6411718.
From the paperwork it appears not to be the original engine.

Can you tell me anything about this engine?

Thanks

JJ 911SC 12-13-2016 04:12 PM

3l from an 1981 US/Cdn SC, type 930/16

9.3:1 Compression ratio

180 Hp @ 5500 rpm

175 F-p @ 4200 rpm
