if you are asking me how much - U$380.00. I thought that was pretty good. That's the wheel, embossed horn pad and adapter/spacer (looks like the pelican part PEL-SPEC-911). bS |
Cool, thanks. Which dealer?
|
oh yeah, that's not embossed, as with the 968CS. but i assure you it IS definitely different than the one sold at pelican. it's actually flush with the surface of the wheel; it's inlaid and not merely glued on and sticking "out" as at pelican, which is far cooler IMHO, since that's how the ones from the factory came. oh how i wish wayne could get his mits on these...
|
That does sound nice/better.
It seem to me that a person could inlay the crest themself. Just peel away the vinyl cover, and cut-away a recess for the crest, and recover. . . just a thought. |
Well the suspense is killing me on this one. I just went ahead and ordered the 968CS horn pad from my local Porsche dealer. The list price at the dealer is $61.44. Of course, they don't have them in stock so it was a "special order" item. I will let everyone know when, and if, it arrives. I look forward to posting some pictures of it installed on my 930S wheel. My fingers are crossed!

I'm waiting too!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Sorry, been off-line trying to finish a bathroom tile job. The Porsche dealer is in Portland Or. After talking to the parts manager, he's says it will not fit the way it is - 16mm shaft vs. an 18mm shaft on my '81 SC. He does believe that in '82 the changed, so some of you maybe in luck there. Brendan |
Well I finally purchased the wheel from my local dealer who brought it in from Germany. It had the embossed crest and went on without problems and I love it! I did not need the use of an additional spacer as the distance between wheel and dash are perfect and in-fact the whole thing is perfect!
Just thought that I would let all know who were interested. Brendan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1077391225.jpg |
So...which shaft does this correspond to? Are there different part numbers for post and pre-82 cars? I'm confused....

I am new to Porsche and have learned a lot from this BBS - so others will be more knowledgeable. But, I was told before there was a difference in shafts (see above thread) and that's why the 968CS wheel would not fit my SC. However, this is a 930S wheel direct from Porsche and fits my 81SC. I know that others wanted to know if the horn pad would fit there 930S wheels bought from Pelican and I would be more then willing to take detailed measurements and photos if someone wanted to know if the pad would fit there previously purchased wheel. bS |
Brendan,
Out of curiousity, what is the part number of the wheel you ordered? The 968CS wheel is P/N 968.347.084.00, but it is not a direct bolt-on for an early 80's 911. Do you happen to have a picture that shows the hub adapter as well? Thank you, Brian |

No pics other then what I posted - sorry! But, if some of you really want to see other shots, I may be willing to remove and photograph. I have a PN - but, it my be the dealer's number 000-043-161-00-8YR - not sure. It bolted right on to my 81SC! bS |
PET says the number posted above is "sport steering wheel"
8YR is the code for black price list quotes about $440 max |
sounds correct then, but I paid about $60 less then MSRP :)

Brendan- could you possibly take a pic of the back of the horn pad? The pad on my 930s basically attaches to the horn ring setup with 3 plastic clips. I'm assuming that if yours is the same & the radius of the horn ring piece is the same then they are interchangeable.
thanks! |
Here is a couple of pics of the back of the horn pad. I hope this helps, if more or something else is needed - just let me know.

So what does the adaptor look like that came with this wheel? What dealer did you get it from?

It certainly *looks* very similar to the pad on my 930s wheel. Can't quite read the calliper measurement but I think I'm going to keep waiting for the pad from pelican

EDIT: It also has the long seam in the bottom spoke, and no seams or glued smaller patches on the two upper spokes as the AJ and PP items have |
